If your flashed for it then you might run a tad bit more rich due to the flash (assumingly) compensating for the addtional air. However as it has been discussed your car might not suffer too many differences due to the lack of the turbulant air that aftermarket intakes introduce. You might lose SOME hp but probably not enough for you to really notice.
Does that answer your question?

I'd be careful about doing this. Usually a tune pulls some fuel out because an intake kit will make the car run rich. So I would assume that if you put the stock intake back on, it would lean your car out too much.
OK so we got two different answers....to rich and to lean. I did it once I didnt see a diff. But of course it could depend what all your other mods are. Sometimes they work as a team when you reflash it....so reflashing it back would prolly be a good idea to just be safe about it.

If you were originally running some type of intake kit and were tuned for that, once you put back on a stock intake you would be best to have the car retuned. Stock intakes and cone filter intake kits can vary greatly in the way that they are tuned. You could possibly lose a few horsepower but it won't be a staggering amount. Definately get the car retuned to prevent any possible driveability problems that could occur due to the switch back
Umm Doesn't an Evo HAve a MAF sensor so won't the computer adjust how much fuel to give the car Depending on how huch air flows though that sensor, and how hot the air is. Just wondering because its not like you car runs soley on guessing, it adjusts and changes things to maintain a good level of operation. And Temp and AF ratio are very high on an ECU's "to do list." if you get what i mean. I'm just saying if you don't have a vaccum leak i don't think you should run rich or lean.
Thats true, but MAF readings can be distorted when using a cone type intake filter. If the car is retuned for use with a cone filter, the optimal settings change to account for the new intake. The optimal settings for a car with a cone filter could vary greatly from a car with the stock intake, which is why its best to have the car retuned.
The engine management should be able to adapt to the stock airbox.
Running a little on the rich side is not bad on a the EVO. It might even run smoother
and have better throttle response with the stock airbox.
What else do you have on the car?
