EVO's Slow Clutch Take Out

In the several months that I've owned my Evo I've noticed a rather peculiar Phenomenom, when leaving from a Standing Start, Especially at a Light on a Major Highway, it seems that there is just NO WAY to get moving out quickly....I'm NOT talking about a Simple 5000rpm Drop/Launch which Obviously gets you moving REAL Quick. I've driven MANY stick Muscle cars in my 46 years so I KNOW how to drive a Stick, and in fact my 2000 Trans Am had NO PROBLEM with a quick 2500/3000rpm leave from a start (Again I'm NOT talking about a HARD LAUNCH like you would do at the track!)

In fact my neighbor who is a Police Officer in our town, has seen SEVERAL Evo's that got Rear ended over the years PRECICELY because of this....Sooo, would an Aftermarket Clutch fix this??

You need to slip the clutch. Rev the motor up to 2-3000K and slip the clutch as you accelerate while adding throttle input.

Yea, I've tried that, and YES that's always what you do on ALL Other stick cars to get you movin in a hurry, but on these EVO's all that does is Burn Up the Clutch!

I've yet to smell Eau de Clutch. You may need to refine your technique. I didn't suggest the method, because it was something I heard. I suggested it, because IME it works with my Evo.

Adjust your clutch pedal down a little than you wont have to let it out so much while reving it out for take off

welcome to the wonderful world of turbos. I was in the same boat as you, always drove cars with big motors and rear wheel drive. It took a lot of getting used to until I finally just accepted the fact that we simply dont have the low end torque to get movin unless your launchin it.

i know where hes comin from. Its not driver error, its probably just his mind expecting to be able to leave the line faster(assuming hes not launching it). With v8s you get gobs of torque down low and its really easy to get goin fast, especially with a big pair of rear tires.

Removing the restrictor pill might also help.

I definitely understand the feeling. When I'm trying to jump across a busy 4-6 lane street, that lag KILLS me. Adjusted the technique and that's where its at

I dont understand how anyone is having problem with lag. My car is 100% stock and my Evo gets up and goes on command. In fact the only problem I'm having now is that when I release the clutch too soon and the car jumps like crazy, but thats cause I only got 1k on a new clutch. If you need low end that bad get a V8 and be done with it.
