get your car tuned. whoever tunes your car will make your turbo spool sooner and smoother across the powerband...making your car feel a lot faster

If you want to Jump off the line on a regular slow launch, get the Tilton clutch. Clutch engages very quickly and you are moving instantly. Of course, other driveability issues with tilton, so pick your poison.

You may want to try using the e-brake, and releasing it when you launch. It may help take up some slack in the drivetrain when you get going.

i can take off pretty quickly from a stop...just stomp the gas and let off the clutch at a higher point than u would usually.

now if we're talking a mini-launch...then yea, the Evo has no low end torque, and a V8 or hell even a V6 will be much better for that.

I don't see how this is a problem. I think you're just trying to drive it like a rwd v8. Try driving like it's a slow ff. A few more revs, and a little slippage.

try removing the restrictor pill, like in this write up. it makes a world of difference, and saves the clutch. mitsu puts it in there for people that like to dump the clutch instead of slipping it on a hard launch. good luck.

I thought of you this morning as I took my Sunday spin. Usually, everything happens almost unconsciously, but today I kept an eye on the tach. If you rev up to ~2500-3000, slip in the clutch and then add throttle smoothly as the clutch grabs, the Evo will accelerate at a good clip without a need for a full launch. FWIW, removing the restrictor pill will make the clutch engage more positively, but you'll still need to slip it for a relatively quick take-off.

It's a turbo car and has no torque down low. With a 8:1 compression, you need the turbo to make any power. It's the nature of the beast, there's nothing wrong with your car. That's just the way it is. Is this your first turbo'd car? The only way around it is to get your rev's up, and slip the clutch more than you're used to.

Buy more stuff, get a stainless steel clutch line, (100 bucks) at 2500 you can feather out the clutch with more control and nice an slow. still pretty touchy tho
