Several Newbie questions ^^

How to launch an AWD?

What's 2-step?

What's PSI?

How do you usually start off first gear? (from 0 to something) For me, I would hold the clutch all the way in, gas it to between 2k-2.5k rpm and let clutch hit the hook point and then go. Sometimes I just gas it a little above 1k rpm, and slowly let go of clutch and after it hooks up, I let go of clutch but it feels like the engine is working harder to get back at a higher rpm and then it stops at 2k rpm. so some tips would help a newbie like me xD

I'll add more when I can think of them, I'm sure I had a few more xD

so yeah sorry for questions like this, the evo X is my first stick shift car, and I don't know a lot about cars but I'm interested so it be nice if someone would help me out ^^

You need high rpms to launch, or you'll bog down. Launching is somewhere in the 5K rpm neighborhood.

I'll let someone else define 2-step, lol.

PSI=Pounds per square inch/pressure.

I usually start off anywhere around 1.5K to 2.5K rpms when driving normally.

You'll get better the longer you drive the car.

If this is your first stick you might want to learning how to properly drive a stick first. Driving a manual properly is different then being able to drive one. Know that advanced driving techniques such as don't downshift and slow the car with the engine, learn your heal to toe or double clutch, etc and your clutch and transmission will last longer. I believe there are a number of manual transmission video's on youtube. Once you get to that point then you can work on your launch.

To launch an AWD you preload the gears with a bit of slippage of the clutch then its all practice from there finding the right amount of release time. DO NOT side step the clutch...

2 step is a fancy rpm limiter when the car is near still and the clutch fully depressed it kicks in limiting the rpm's. It CAN be used to build boost but from what many find out doesn't do so unless tuned to.

I usually start from first gear with a small blip of the throttle and apply just enough clutch to load the gears up. I follow applying a little more gas and a little less slip until the car is rolling easing out of the clutch. This in practice takes me less then a couple second to complete but I've been doing this for so long its pretty much instinct. Your likely going to have to just work at it for a while until you can find a routine that comfortable for you.
