Insanity!!!! The car that I test drove deffinately seemed a little light on power, I bought one anyway (a different one obviously) and mine seems significantly more powerfull. I'm not sure if it's all in my head or not, but from what other CA people are saying... Oh BTW, I'm having some problems w/my local dealership. It seems that the service advisors are complete, total and utter retards (they even look like tools...coffee stains/donut crumbs on shirts, visible gingivitis etc...). They don't know anything about the car, are rather unprofessional, and every time I ask a question EVERY answer begins with a long, drawn-out "Well, umm......" Anyway, does anyone know of a dealer in the Los Angeles area/county that has experience with the EVO or at least a solid reputation of good service/diagnosis?

I'll find out later on today for sure if it's the car or my head. Have some dyno time reserved this afternoon. I could swear my car has lost some power, but we'll see for sure.

This sounds like the same problem I was having with my DSM's. Perhaps it's the 4G63, but I can tell you there where days when my cars would be so fast and the very next day, POOF. gone. Never really did figure it out.

I had days like that on my 4g63 eclipse. It was dud to bad gas and the knock sensor would retard the timing. Try another gas station and reset your ECU. It may or may not help???

In my experience, your brain always adjusts to the power of your car, which may be why so many of us are continuously thinking about how to increase power!

(Of course if this is not your first "fast" car and it just really feels slower to you ...)

About Shiv's comments, he found that the car SCC was testing had unexplainably more horsepower on his dyno than the numerous production cars he was testing. There's lots of debate about his dyno (reads lower), but on the same dyno the two cars were about 30 hp different, you can't deny that. It's a long thread, but be patient and focus in on Shiv's posts:
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...c&pagenumber=1

Then go here:
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...v&pagenumber=7

About 3/4 way down the page, Shiv makes reference that he's seen unresolved "issues" with the stock motor. People ask him to elaborate. He says he's been working with and they have been "awesome." So whatever it is, he can't talk about it yet, for legal reasons probably, and knows about it because of him.
Maybe PM him and see what he can tell you.

I'm just observing!
Peace

I agree with you on this. I've got about 2500 miles on my Evo now and my brain constantly thinks it's not as fast as it used to be when I first got it, but I've had fast cars before and I remember always thinking that then too. About 3 weeks ago, Me, my mom, and her husband went snowboarding (yes, with my mom; we go every week in the winter. They're both bad *** boarders too! Pretty cool for mid 50's) and we took her supercharged Exterra. I drove the whole time (about 2 hrs each way) and at the end of the day when I got back in my Evo, I felt like I was driving a guided missle once again so yes, it's just our brains quickly adapting to our cars performance. They're still awesome, you just have to drive something else to refresh your point of reference.

I have the same problem with my car and always have, even from when it was new. (Has a 4G32b which is related to the 4G63.) Over many years with the car and from what I can tell from the gauges installed, it has to do with the Mass Air Flow Sensor and and the ECU in regards to the amount of fuel being dumped into the engine. From day to day there can be a world of difference on the same tank of gas. Accelerating G's force readings have also confirmed it's not in my head.
