Stripped rear 02 sensor

I pulled all the treads that have talked about this but I couldnt find a clear answer on where people are getting replacements for the IX. I had my o2 housing and TBE installed and the mechanics stripped the threads. This thing was not coming out unless we took the plasma cutters to it. Its like the metals bonded together or something. Pissed me off! Anybody have a good source to get these? Im sick of looking at the "Service Engine Soon" light......

If you talking about o2 sensor on stock cat location, you can pick up generic one at auto store for around $100. Or you can always go for oem which cost good amount of $$.

you'll also need anti fouler (cel fix) to get rid of that service engine light with aftermarket exhaust.

dont get a universal... go here and get the plug and play rear o2 sensor.

And yes they do work... I did a install article for Undercar Digest Magazine for Walker Oxygen sensors... I got two free sensors for my evo but i sold the rear already. I still have the primary sensor left tho. Anyways just call them to make sure they have it and if so get it. Definatly worth the money and it will save you about $200 from not going to Mitsu.

i am 99.9% sure that its the same exact sensor for the 04 VIII and the 06' IX.

You can also Call the dealer to confirm the part number for the 03 and the 06. I dont believe anything has changed for the sensors between the years. The exhaust fits, LICP, and several other parts....

I'm not sure how stripped your sensor is, but I also have a IX and stripped my sensor pretty good.

I eventually was able to get it off. Here's what I did:

1) Make sure to get an o2 sensor wrench (22mm or 7/8"). I used a crow's foot since it seemed to fit tighter than the socket.
2) Buy Liquid Wrench or other equivalent oil penetrant.
3) Apply liberally several times, leaving at least 60 minutes between application. I did this over the period of two days.
4) Now your sensor should come off fairly easily.

This assumes that there is still some usable hex on the o2 sensor. If not, you can possibly use vice-grips (this will probably dent the sensor housing a bit, but shouldn't affect the internals).

I literally thought mine was completely cemented on and I was ready to go the same route. Don't give up until you have tried these things.

The rear O2 sensors on the VIII's are a completely different part number than the sensors for the IX. I've just put on my TBE and have had to order a new rear sensor due to it being crossthreaded from the factory. Please refer to my post in the PN# Request thread for the IX PN#.

I think quite a few of us IX owners have had this problem..

Try the Liquid Wrench. Your wallet will thank you if it works

PB Blaster is a far superior product to liquid wrench, I suggest anyone to try it you will be astonished. Comes in a lame lookin yellow can but its a miracle product, especially with rusted fasteners.
