Can I ditch my heatshields?
I'm putting BR's ported/coated mani/02/10.5 on my evo tomorrow. Since the coating is designed to reduce engine bay temps anyway (plus they look sweet) could I get away with not reinstalling the upper/lower heatshield? I don't think it should be a problem, but always welcome informed decisions.

way to not answer his question kreionic - look at BRs site...https://secure.buschurracing.com/cat...85703930e137b1
You will not need your heat shields, you could put them on to cover those parts (but they do look rather nice), the heat coating is way more efficient than the old heat shields ever were.

The 10.5 from buschur was off the shelf ready and took 3 days (still have to mail in my core) and cost 250.
Buschur only ported the manifold and that was 60. Coated locally while working in Seattle for $80.
Ebay 02 $60. Coated locally while working in Seattle $40.
Selling the old manifold for $100.
Total $390. Not too shabby I think...
I would think it would be a good idea to ask the Buschur folks if they thought it was a good idea to run it without heat shields. Lots of little plastic and electronic thingies to ****-off in the engine bay.
It is your car though, so have fun with it however you like ;-)
