We found a '01 Sentra with 32K miles for $8K!! so all eneded up OK.So far I've over 4K miles on my EVO. I've taken one long trip, Atlanta to Miami and back (about 1500 miles). I've not experienced any problems except that the radio liquid crystal display had some streaks through it the second day after I got it but they went away and never came back
So far I'd rate the EVO quality as very good. My WRX was also quite good quality wise. Another thing I noticed was that the EVO is actually more comfortable to drive long distances that the WRX and perhaps even our '03 Maxima SE
J.D.Power's Initial Quality survey always has been and always will be...garbage.

Are we expected to believe that year after year, Toyota products sold with the Lexus badge have a fewer number of problems than the virtually identical cars sold with the Toyota badge?
The people responding to these surveys are heavily swayed by how friendly and effective the service departments are. Lexus has a far better service department than Toyota and that is what is being reflected in this survey.
Also, 90 days is not enough to make any serious judgement about a car as an owner ship prospect. If you MUST look at a J.D. Power survey, at least look at their long term reliability survey.

I agree with that. Ford's quality is about as ****ty a GM's as far as I know.
i own a ford truck 01 f150 = 0 problems
my brother has owned 3 ford trucks 95 f150 = 0 problems
01 f150 = 0 problems
03 f150 = 0 problems
i mean, i have heard about problems with ford. the famous 97 4.2L gasket problems and the probs the lightning guys are having with launching plugs. but in my oppinion they a pretty trouble free TRUCKS when left stock. most of the launched plugs happen after mods. (more boost, changed plugs, ect...). But i have no experiance with any ford cars. just my .02

it is nothing but a survey that jd powers get from the dealers. no matter how bad your car is if they have a good service department, you will rate them high because you were satisfied with the repair.

When I took the survey for my Nissan I rated the audio system a "problem area" because it can't handle the bass on a particular Tori Amos CD, yet it plays EVERY OTHER DISC in my library just fine. It just so happens that at that particular time, I really wanted to play that disc. If I was filling out the same survey today, I probably would not have even remembered about that.
Which brings up the point, I don't think its accurate to refer to this as a "quality" survey. The Hummer H2 is a perfect case in point. That vehicle put Hummer at the bottom of the list by a wide margin because it got poor "quality" marks for its low fuel consumption. What does that have to do with parts falling off the car?
Most of the "problems" reported on these survey's are minor beyond belief. 10 years ago they would get feedback on dead tranny's and the like. Today its on base-model audio systems that lack sufficient bass response.
The service department survey is a different deal altogether.

I got a statistic for you! If you turn that graph upside down, you'll notice chavez that under my leadership Mitsubishi is Number 2 in best cars list. Toped only by a KIA, which cheated by sleeping with JD.
How about you guys show the survey that really matters......

The study is based on models of 5 years ago. Hence it does not include the, current, better built vehicles, like the Lancer, Montero and Outlander.
Also, we are not told how each question is weighted and how the severity of the problem is scored. Just like with the 90 day intial quality study, where fuel consumption is considered a quality issue, the long-term study is riddled with BS questions that have nothing to do with quality and reliability.
JD Power and
Consumer Retards
I think that JD Power stuff is BS for two reasons:
1) Ford and GM rate well
2) The results are totally different from Consumer Reports, which I think is more reliable.
Besides, does it really matter? If we are buying a new car Mitsubishi is going to fix it anyway.

I've always had good luck with Fords. I've owned '88 Mustang GT, '92 GT, 90 LX 5.0, 00 Expedition, '02 LX 5.0 (current car..running low 10's..stock block), 96 Cobra, 00 ZX2 S/R.
Also currently own 69 Mustang Mach 1 428CJ
My wife owned a Festiva years ago that had 250k miles...still going strong until it was wrecked. Only thing it ever needed was an alternator.
