but so far the dealership has given me a rental and no static whatsoever. I just miss my EVO.
Can you tell us where this oil plug is exactly? Was it over tightened by Mitsubishi or someone else? Did the oil plug crack or was it the surrounding head material?

LoL, gotta love the Peanut Gallery comments!

You keep on luvin your 03 as my 06 passes your butt on the freeway and everywhere else!

Before your panties get too bunched look at my sig.....the 03 was great, but the 06 is two steps above (fewer squeaks and rattles, better ride, bigger turbo, mivec, better head, etc)

I'm with you on this one, bro. 29,500 miles and still running strong with no problems! Sorry to hear about your IX, bro. Hopefully that's the limit of problems for you.

Speaking of loosing oil....I changed my oil for the 1st time @ the 500 mile mark or so. I almost blew a nut trying to get the oil filter off!! It was on tighter than I can even describe. I finally got it off with the aide of some rubber non slip matting from a kitchen cabinet and gloves. Once I finally got it off I noticed a ring 1/3 of the way around the smooth machined surface where the gasket makes contact. I figured it was just a dirt ring, but when I tried to wipe it away I felt a groove in the surface!!!! The filter was soooo damn tight it gouged the surface, and of course with the new filter in place...leaks!!! Not a drip or anything catastrophic, the filter just gets damp with oil. The dealer offered to replace the unit, but like all the rest have said, I don't trust anyone with the EVO.

No one's discounting the better performance layout of the IX. It just seems the VIII has experienced fewer defective issues, as a whole.

I'm the service director at a Mitsu dealer and I haven't flagged a single warranty since I've been here so I find that statement kinda offensive. Don't judge all the dealers by some who are douche bags. Some of us take good care of you guys.
