EVO handling vs. modded "X"?
EVO handling vs. modded "X"?
I read on one of these forums from someone that said that the EVO's handling is mainly due to the super stiff racing springs that it has. So for those of you that have driven/auto-x'd other cars with performance springs, how does the EVO stack up?
for example, would a 350z with perf. springs handle better due to the near 50/50 weight dist.?

There's actually more than just the stiffer shocks and springs that give it it's great handling. They also stiffened the body, not to mention good tires and aggressive alignment. But every review I have read and all vids say the 350Z understeers when driven hard, so I don't think only stiffer springs will make a great handling 350Z or any car actually. There's much more to making the car handle well than just stiffer springs.
With that said, I honestly doubt that the majority of buyers will ever will hit the handling limits of a 350Z, let alone the Evo. Majority of sports car buyers buy them for the image and the only racing they see is flooring it on the highway. So if the 350Z floats your boat, go for it and enjoy! Don't let magazine numbers pick your car for you, buy what moves you (no pun intended).
