Car Starting by Itself
I had mitsubishi tow the car to the dealer today only to find out they are no longer doing any warranty work
Nearest dealer is 100+ miles away so I had it towed to my mechanic and then ended up paying for the tow, since it did not go to a dealer. They are going to look at it but it sounds like it is the starter.
Scott it will not be going back to stock
Heck now that it is a pain to get warranty work it really does not matter.

good luck. don't you have a mitsu dealer in twin? or is the nearest one poky?
sounds like it's time to get a shop manual and start wrenching. starter is pretty easy to replace, but diagnosing the issue can be a pita...

Interesting, I will wait to hear back from my mechanic today and mention this. Thanks franz.
Scott, there is a Mitsu dealer in Twin, but they are not allowed to do warranty work any longer. Not sure what that is all about and the service guy was not being very forthcoming.

maybe the car has been flagged as no warranty anymore? would be interesting to find out, as we all know how alky or cams affect a starter
good luck and hope it's a cheap fix, especially after the tow..

Exactly why I did not want to have it towed to Poky. I didn't want to find out they would not work on it anyway and I would have to pay the tow bill to there, plus I would need to get a non running car back home. That would all just suck.
Ok guys here is what it looks like happened:
I am running an Evo 9 turbo and a LICP made for an 8. This is very close to the starter wiring and appears to rub it when put under a load at trackdays or autox's. The previous owner thought he had worked out the issue, but never really tested it out. Since I got this car it has done an Evolution Autox school, a track day at Miller Motorsports Park and a number of other autox's putting a great deal of stress on the car. My mechanic built a small shield to protect the wiring which should help and it look like I will be replacing my LICP with one made for the 9 which should help.
