Ok guys I have a real problem with my Evo, the car is trying to start by itself. I was doing an autox yesterday and I came in from one of my runs the car was making a terrible noise so I shut it off. As soon as it was off the starter just kept trying to start it again, finallly we disconnected the battery to keep it from doing it. A few minutes later we connected the battery again and it was not doing it, so I drove the car home. No issues for the 2 hour drive but after the car had sat in the garage for 4-5 hours it started doing it again. Starter would just run and the car would start turning over with no keys in the car or anything. Please help

You may have the Knight Rider version of the Evo!

 

Starter Selonoid, when its doing that check to see if power is Present at the Selonoid Sinal Wire, If so Then ITs a Short, If not Change the starter.

I'm going to have to go with the "your car is possed" route.......although the answer above mine "seems" more realistic. How much cooler is it to say that your car is possesed though!

starter solenoid if part of the starter,you might have to replace you starter,in the other hand you have the starter relay maybe the relay is binding up,sticking at times check that out too.good luck and no is not posses lol lol .

 

swap relays see if it stop's if it does then u know u have a bad relay.

Starters aren't that expensive just replace it and call it a day.

I Agree with the Realay theory too, so when its doing that Starter thing pull the Relay. Your gonna need a new starter soon anyway at this rate a new batery too. (next up Altenator) Soo you should fix this ASAP.
