And that 300hp made by the STi is at 14.5psi. Boost controller with 1 or 2 more psi will easily put it into the 12's with no other mods. That should make it cheaper to modify than the EVO. I bet the extra .5liters of displacment makes it easier to drive at lower RPMs than a 2 liter.
Subaru really nailed the coffin with the $30k price too.

Go look at all the mags out this month and you'll realize the general consensus is that the Evo beats the STi in the majority of the categories except for straight line speed. Also the STi has a softer ride. Whoopdeedoo.
Here's a good quote from Automobile:
... the STi feels like a well-constructed front-wheel-drive car with big tires
Value is right about Mitsu needing to up the ante. HP/Liter is not a concern for most of American car buyers. Heck the Viper has 500hp from 8 liters = 62.5hp/l. No doubt Mitsu is just testing the waters. Everywhere else in the world the 6 speed is standard as well as the yaw and diff (except the RS). My Evo purchase will wait for that day too (unless the voices in my head win).

uh ok? whats ur ***en point?
most plp dont give a **** bout hp/liter
and if u wanna compare hp/liter, RX-8 = 250hp/1.3l = 192.3 hp per liter. i guess that means RX-8 wins the horespower war eh?
The rotary engine isn't directly comparable in stated capacity to a 4-stroke piston engine. It is twin rotor with each having a stated capacity of 650cc. If you want to calculate the hp/L for the RX-8, you really need to multiply the 1.3L by 3, because each of the 3 chambers around the rotor produces combustion for each revolution of the crankshaft. That's 3/4 of the time for a rotary vs. 1/4 of time for a 4-stroke piston.
I agree that hp/L is interesting, but more important than that is the actual power output and hp/weight ratio.

this is the conclusion from sport compact between the evo and sti " If you must have the power, then the STI is your car. Nothing short of a porsche turbo will outdistance it from a stoplight and it produces a sensation of speed beyond most musclecars, thanks to its prodigios torque and ultra-short gears. The EVO, however, is amazing on diferent, but equally impresive, terms. Its precision cant be measured by acceleration, turning or braking tests. It's sharp and focused where the STI is brutal and bullying. It rotates and carves when the STI turns and shoves. IT whispers when the STi screams. Its subtle when you want it yet devestating when you need it. And the bottom line is that the few arenas of performance where it gives up speed to the STi arent enough to sway us from its hypnotizing performance. this time we choose the understated precision over extroverted force. This time we chose quality over quantity. and this time we chose the EVo over the STI".............. also dyno numbers STI 257 HP 266 LB-FT TQ EVO 233 HP 252 LB-FT TQ................................... by no means am i an expert or anything i am just forwarding information i read........ and every other magazine or TV show i have read say the same the EVO is better........ but as for the topic i dont think they will change for 04' 05' i think will bring the evo IX but untill then this car still is sick. (and ive only sat in one havnt driven it) haha
