Just keep calling dealers close to you and keep widening the search as they tell you no. There eventually will be someone that agrees to match.

PM Mark (Evolution_4_all) at SouthCoast...he's the one that helped me out. He was off the night I bought it but he set it up.

PS....Their warranty crew is the ish. I went in there and they were putting cams, O2 housing, and a TBE on an EVO.

Another SC success story here. I got my MR from South Coast through Mark & Mike. Shipping will probably run you somewhere between $600 & $1k depending on options. There's about $50 in documents fees also, and the cost of FedExing documents back and forth to them. Be warned they may use some really weird overnight service. They sent me a return overnight envelope, but the place they used doesn't actually do pickups in AZ, so I had to pay yet again for FedEx. Also, make sure you sign everywhere highlighted, even if it has "NA" typed through the line already.

In the end though, it was all well worth it! I talked to the (only) dealership in town just out of politeness and told them what South Coast was willing to do including shipping and asked if they were interested in trying to match it. The guy was at least quite straight up. He said that the price SC was quoting me was $2k under what their dealer cost was and they would have wanted $2k more than that to sell me the car.

He then told me that if SC was willing to sell at that price, I should go for it, so I did!

South Coast, Long Beach, and Victorville Mitsu are able to sell their cars under invoice because of the kick back they get from Mitsu. No dealership that doesn't do extremely high volume Evo sales would be able to match their price. I just bought mine and had it shipped up. 33,800 before TTL is still a really good deal for a brand new MR.

My local dealer matched SC pricing ($32.9 plus $900 ship) on my MR. No wait for shipping, and support local business. Plus I got 2 free oil changes and free gas.

Wow which dealership was this? None of the NW Mitsu dealerships I went to would even touch those prices.

Walker's in Renton. I give rating for their sales, not yet to experience with their service dept. Gotta go in for my 1st free oil change.

Wow surprised Walker's went that low. They tried to do a 2K mark up on me.

Dealers this far east are actually charging mark-ups over MSRP on the new SEs. When I tried to arrange a local deal that was even close to SC this Spring, they were incredulous. I ended up getting my MR from Mark at SC and, even paying 1K for enclosed transport to VA, beat the best local price by over 3K. I took in the sales invoice and showed them and they said they couldn't even buy the car for anywhere close to SC price.
The whole cross-country shipping thing worried me, but it came out fine.

to Mark M. and South Coast

When sending the paper work back and forth they paid for everything through DHL which has pick up stations all over, usually inside Office Depot or Office Max. They will send you all the paperwork and another prepaid envelope to send back. I did the credit app. on line through there website and then mailed my down payment in the form of a cashiers check. Very easy plus Kansas ins't that far from so cal. If you flew out Friday after work, you would be back home by Saturday night I am guessing. Denver was about half way for me and that is pretty close to Kansas.

Denver is a 6 hour drive for me. I've never gone any further west than south UTAH, so I'm not sure how long of a drive it would be.

For a proper break in on the highway I'd have to be going between 4th and 5th and changing speed a lot. I don't think it'd be very much fun. Plus I have to sell my current car so I can have a downpayment...I'm not going to deal with 400+ monthly payments.
