If something like that happens to any of you guys you can file a complaint on internal affairs. A complaint on internal affairs would significantly affect their careers when is time for promotion. These are type of events in which a police officer can be held accountable for.

Don't give up, not only this is a win to win situation but also you could suit the police station for many reasons:

False official statements
Incompetency
Unlawful ticket
misrepresentation of law
Harassment
Ultimately failure to lawfully and efectively perform their duties which is other than giving a ticket for a legal exhaust system

Thanks for the info...

most street races that end badly are kids with 4 of their friends in the car racing in downtown streets against idiots in SUVs thinking that their Explorer is a (insert performance vehicle here). I had to go to driving school for a ticket (BS, by the way) and I asked, how many dead street racers had their seatbelts on, had 3 people in the car, drove none performance cars, had ZERO ability to drive, etc. Answer: 90 percent. I don't endorse street racing most of the time, but the local Fri/Sat meet in parking lots is OK, but cops keep busting us up, resulting in some idiots racing, down to another spot or on the highway.

In conclusion, cops are getting tougher due to the high performance vehicles now produced and the popularity of cars. Some casulaities are incurred and tickets handed out. But most of this can be solved by not running uncatted or being a dick

I drove my XR4Ti open DP for a month with no tickets, so just be careful out their.

PS- Cali cops do suck

True, NJ cops are rough tho. they will pull you over for looking bored.

As this 3sgteGURU said before, if you are asked to pop your hood, ask for a warrant. If they decline or are unsuccessful in doing so tell them you want a lawyer then. I would also recommend getting a car cam. In NJ cops like to beat you when they cant do anything else, lol; that seems like what this cop was aiming for, he just held him calm. ( so.jersey anyways.)

They cant force you to do anything without a warrant as far as engine bay or inspection goes. I think you did the right thing in refusing b.c u gave him a piece of your mind by telling him no if you knew nothing was wrong. He apparently had a bad night or doesnt get laid so he unfortunately took it all out on u. His stupidity shows.

Thats how it is in Fresno, though.
I guess I've been pretty lucky here in Fresno. I've had my Evo for 15 months and aside from getting pulled over right after I bought it because one of Fresno's finest thought it was stolen, I've never had a run-in with them. And, I have illegal tint and no front plate

Well today I went down to the CHP office to get it signed off and the officer looked at my muffler and said he wont sign it off cuz it's not stock! I was like WTF! I told him it was stock and he said cars dont come with chrome mufflers like that. I told him 5 times thats the way it comes from the factory. He said "look how big that muffler tip is. That isnt a factory muffler. Put the stock muffler back on and then come back." By that time I was so pissed I said fine and drove 20 miles to the other CHP office to see if thet would sign it off. This officer was cool and signed it off for me. What's wrong with some of these cops, they're douchebags!
Well i just got one for having a borla exhaust on mine. But the first time my registration was suspended the inspector said that it wasnt stock because I had a IX exhaust which is a little louder than the 8 exhaust. I went back to that 9 exhaust after getting my 8th exhaust ticket. Cops suck!!!!

Most of the cool cops stay outta the way, chilling somewhere gettin free grubs at the local chinese take-out joint or coffee and doughnuts.
It's the ***** faces, usually short and small guys, or the old dudes that think V8 muscle still rules, that look for us to give us shiot for out cars.
I had a cop race me once at 3am to see just how fast my cars was against his FHP outfitted mustang. I was cruzing on the turnpike comin home, goin bout 75, he comes on the side gives me the thumbs up. I returned the finger and floored it...
just joking. I gave the thumb's up, he then pointed forward down the rd as if he wanted to run, So he hit it, hesitant at first, I then hit it thinking I cant believe Im racing a cop...I pulled on him but let off immediatly, he smiled, I waved, he left. I was so full of addrenaline, my nuts shrunk to the size of raisins!!! it was nuts.
I pulled into a HESS station off of Osceola Pkwy, and guess who was there?...the cop. 2 him and a trooper.
I proceeded to get gas, him and he buddy came up to the car. He said that car moves....He said bet you never raced a cop before...?I was like...I could have went fast but it was awkward, I thought you might arrest me afterwards! They laughed. He asked me about the evo in superstreet that green one that was chopped and shortened. They loved the car and said the STI sucks and he loved the way evo's looked! LOL. Super cool cops. He actually owns a supercharged stang pushin over 600 WHP, I told him to bring it out to play, we laughed. Was great! Wish I had the camcorder then....
He was gear head cop!

I wish there were more cool cops that wanna fight crime and not car enthusiast

You guys seriously make these cops out to be terminators or something. Just talk to them like normal people. Odds are we have more in common with cops than almost any other demographic. They typically enjoy fast cars too and when you talk TO them rather than DOWN TO them you'll typically have more luck. It's not always the case and I'm not judging the original poster, but generally it's the the first course of action.

I got pulled over for loud exhaust in my SRT-4 (I had the DC Sports 3" TBE) and I said "but ya gotta love the way it rumbles like a V8" with a big smile on my face. We ended up talking for 10 minutes about the best sounding exhausts. Turns out the guy had built up a 400ci inline six from some old pickup truck from the early 50's. Said it turned 12's in the qaurter mile. He let me go with a warning. Another time a motorcycle cop in a speed trap got me doing 61mph in a 55mph. He actually had the nerve to CLAP triumphantly and in my face after he'd holstered his radar gun. Man I was pissed. I ended up beating that ticket out in a trial by written declaration (thank you www.ticketassassin.com), but that guy was in no mood to talk or anything. He was an absolute tool despite my disarming attitude. One of these days I'll see him in street clothes at a baseball game, local bar, or somewhere. At that point I'll kick in his teeth and sh*t down his throat...and then run.

glad i didnt move to san diego. I can't stand hearing all these stories about the smognazis and there anti-evo antics. Its almost as bad here in new york where any mod to exhaust is illegal. Im just waiting to get pulled over for my stock exhaust so I can laugh in his\her face. I can't understand how cops are allowed to harrass tax paying citezens with stock cars.
