I got pulled over a few weeks back. The cop told me to pop my hood but I told him no. He said pop it now! I asked why I had to pop my hood and he said my modified exhaust. I said it's stock,(which it is). He then said they dont come with a fat muffler like that. Well I told him Im not popping my hood so he cuffed me! He then said I can either go to jail for refusing a order or pop my hood. So I pop my hood and he gives me a fix it ticket for my stock exhaust.

Well today I went down to the CHP office to get it signed off and the officer looked at my muffler and said he wont sign it off cuz it's not stock! I was like WTF! I told him it was stock and he said cars dont come with chrome mufflers like that. I told him 5 times thats the way it comes from the factory. He said "look how big that muffler tip is. That isnt a factory muffler. Put the stock muffler back on and then come back." By that time I was so pissed I said fine and drove 20 miles to the other CHP office to see if thet would sign it off. This officer was cool and signed it off for me. What's wrong with some of these cops, they're douchebags!

 

File a complaint. Not like it matters but it might make you feel a little better

it is all BS... it is hard to find any cool in-the-know cops... most cops are just automotons who dont bother to think about some of the retarded laws they are told to "enforce"... i honestly think the laws that keep us getting harassed by cops just b/c we have a hot car must be revamped so that they don't have free reign to search a vehicle just because they "think" it is too loud or b/c it "looks" modified.... if they are going to target our "type" of car, at least get educated on how a stocker looks like and what it comes equipped with...

if this was from ur SRT-4 i could understand. They really don have muffler tho. I know peopel who got tickets for there stock SRT-4s and couldnt get State Inspections from anywhere but the dealer cause everybody that didtn know a thing about the cars thought they were aftermarket. They do pop alot too.

 

Tell him to go to the dealer and have a look at a stock car sitting on the lot.

For future Info (true In NJ) A Police officer need a Warrant to Make you open your Hood or Trunk, provided the Trunk isn't Accesable From the Passenger Cabin. But Next time you Get a pop the Hood, you Say W-A-R-R-A-N-T. Then He Says i don't need one Then you say Lawyer.
