I guess it depends on the state. You can rent cars in florida at 18 but you have to pay an extra fee. But The special fee doesn't go away until you are 25.

Btw, as someone else mentioned, in many places, you can't rent a car unless you're 25. 21 is nothing...
I agree, you still a kid when your 21 and still looked at as irresponsible and immature. Thats the reason at 25 you can do things like buy a house, rent a car, get cheaper insurance rates, etc.

I bought a house at 22. I don't think there is a law against that. Ohio has the 25 rule as well for us regular folks, but I know you can get loaners and rentals at 21 for a fact.

Oh, by the way, my insurance went up when I turned 25.

Hypothetically speaking, who would you rather lend EVO to: an 18yr old, 21yr old, or 25yr old?

I have heard that Elgin Mitsu is mod friendly, yet I have never been there.

I have never had any mechanical issues with my car, and I have many mods. They cannot tell me however that Cams or a FMIC will make caliper paint come off, a spoiler fade or a trunk rust. Schaumburg has not argued these issues with me at all.

I do not like some of the sales people at Schaumburg Mitsu, thats why i didnt by my car there. The guy treated me like I was stupid cause I was a girl, and I kept on rattling stuff off to him he didnt know about and then tried to tell me i didnt know what i was talking about.

Well if you want to consider it that way, I am lending them my car which supposidly they have to drive across town to the body shop.

and let me ask you. if you had complete access to a decently modded car, would you beat on it>?

no one would really know except the person driving it.

they have that access to my car for the next 3 days....

Also, when I was going to fill out paperwork they tried to have me initial something saying that I would replace the gas I used, do you think they would do that for my car? not a chance....

again, im just venting.....

Hey evo4g63awd, i have the same rusting issue. They told me I had to do the same thing, drop my car off at the mitsu dealer in Aurora and they then drive it to the body shop. I asked if I could just bring in the trunk lid and they said NO. Is it where the wing meets the lid? And is it on the driver's or passenger side? I was also just wondering if anyone else aside from us has had the same issue?

You can't rent unless you're 25 where i live also.. at Enterprise you must pay an extra.. $10/day if you're 21-24 i believe..

Glad I have company benefits .

That fee is waived when I rent from there and I also get a good percentage off rental price..

Compact car can be rented for $23-24 a day .

Woot.

In 10 or more years you will have a better understanding of the reasons why,,, We all in some point in time have run into the age problem... I felt the same way when I was your age in renting/loaner cars.

Yep, you can fight and die for our country but can't rent a car or drink for that matter.

I have an 03 VIII and I have the same problem(see pic). I have not asked the dealer about it yet, but will have to now. I have had good experiences with Max Madsen in Downers Grove, they replaced my transfer case under warranty(including the rental car) no questions asked.

the car rental thing is different in every state
i used to rent cars for a living
in ct its over 21
under 23 and you have to pay extra 10$ aday
in ny its 18+ but they charge a 40$ a day fee for people under 25$
its just the way it works

loaner cars are completly different loaner cars are the insurance companies choice
rental cars are state laws

i have had the same problem, I got rear ended in my lancer and my insurance company set me up with a rental, I go pick it up and they won't let me leave because they just 'found out' that I'm 18, I'm like yeah, its my Insurance I pay, my car, and its paid for, what the f*&$ is the problem? So my brother signed for and handed me the keys in front of them, funny. Got a Pontiac Vibe, great car, did some awesome burnouts and flat spotted a tire, took it to shop and said with a straight face "No, no burnouts or anything crazy" So they fixed it and gave it back, funny as crap anyway, but yeah the rental system is "ghey"

That is the exact reason why they did not want to give a rental. When I was 18 I would have thought the same way but a few years later you don't feel that way anymore.
