college car??
Toyota Yaris anybody?
My friend just bought one and averages 400 miles+ to the tank and the turning radius on those things is so tight you can just go in circles in the middle of the street! Seriously though. If your thinking more about reliablity go with the 3 series. You can get a 4 door to haul all the ladies around
! Ive got the Evo and im in college also and Im loving it! Keep the evo man!

Any car that you maintain well will stay reliable unless you drive the living crap out of it. My friend goes to school on the other side of the mountains in Washington and loves his Evo with snow tires. He prompted me to go with an Evo as I'll be heading over there in a few months which means the passes will be full of snow.
If you're looking for something that's low maintenance with great gas mileage, why not get yourself into a Civic? Great gas mileage, just do oil changes and the normal tune ups, tires last long, as well as the brakes. I would've bought myself a Civic if I didn't have a high paying job lined up for me when I start school there. The Evo is in no way a high mileage/low maintenance vehicle as you already know.

keep the evo. its been a great college car for me. i just dont understand the point of this thread. most times people ask about a collge car they are looking for something more senesibe than an evo or sti, not replacing their current evo with a new one... sk2 is stupid though, youll want the space
i think it should be between the toyota yaris, nissan versa or the honda fit if gas mileage and maintenance are your main concerns
or you could consider some LS powered vehicles, camaro, gto, corvette, since you do live in texas where snow doesn't exist

the evo is the worst college car....it attracts more males then females and there are to many haters out there with **** cars....However a 3series bmw is a nice car becasue its not super flashy soo haters wont hate and its roomy and the ride is 10x smoother atleast in the 330xi with sport package

Depends how far you live from campus. I live about 60 miles away from my school (Go Blue!). I do not drive the Evo to class very much - at 20 mph that gets expensive. I also worry about the haters, I have to park in a commuter lot and take the school bus in. Dont really like that idea.
So I have a 98 Escort SOHC 2.0L 5-speed sedan. Yes its ugly, wont attract any gals (dont care - have a gf), but it gets 34 mph city/hwy and takes cheap (87oct) gas.
The Escort also doubles as my winter car.
Nice part is going from 400ish hp to 110 hp (engine hp) then back my Evo this spring. Its going to feel like a f'ing rocket! At least to I get used to it again.

I also have a BBY 03 evo and I go to ASU and I love my car and I think it is perfect for a college car.. decent gas mileage as long as im not beating on it, fun to drive, reliable, and even though the school the 60,000+ people there are only 5 so it still turns heads compared to the 1,000 bmw's.
Personally Ill save getting a bmw for when I have a real job and can afford an M5

With that list it's clear that you dont want a car that's good for college, but a new car altogether.
