I am going. Looking forward to seeing a good crowd. We got a room booked at Fontana village also. We stayed there last year, and that place is awesome. Not a whole lot to eat around there though. The scenery is beautiful.

That dragon is hard on breaks. The more power you have the harder it is on your brakes.

I posted in reference to meeting along the lake at the bigining of The Dragon, TN. side. It should be a good staging area. I'll post more later.

 

If you need lodging @ Fontana Village, you better book quickly. I had called on Friday to check availability, they had three 3 bdrms & one 2 bdrm. I was going to call back to book a 3 bdrm, but forgot to, then I called this morning and they're all booked! So I booked a room and I'm on a list incase a 3 dbrm opens up. Book your room now before it's too late!!

rorro when are you leaving to go up....I can't leave the 9th so I was going to leave the 10th at 6 in the morning so I guess I will miss the first day. It is a 10hr drive straight up from my house here in Louisiana. Let me know I wouldn't mind meeting up and caravan.

I'll give you a call in the next day or two. One of the main reasons I'm planning on arriving Thursday night is so I can drive on Friday, as the Dragon can get bogged down with slowpokes on Saturday. Thats why I want to drive the Dragon early on Saturday, then if it gets crowded, we will hit the Cherohala and surrounding roads. However, I'm thinking that the traffic should be minimal in mid Nov compared to when I was last up there.

Just make sure you all do a PMCS(Preventitive Maintanence,Checks & Service) on your vehicles before comming up. Pay special attention to your BRAKES, then check your BRAKES and re-check your BRAKES and tires, then the other stuff!

I only have 4k miles on my evo and I am completely stock. Just changed the oil and rotated the tires so I should be good on the maintence right? I will probably get in the area around noon or just after on Friday is there a schedule for the whole event?

 

I think it's posted a few pages back. We'll be driving the Dragon starting Friday morning, meeting along the river on the TN side, just before the dragon starts. I'm planning on stopping for lunch at a little resteraunt @ the "Tree of shame", presuming their open. I'm going to try to get ahold of 3-4 two way radios so we can have commo between the front and rear of the group, as cell phones don't work in that area. Saturday will be the same senario, except that we will probably break off from the Dragon when the treffic gets heavy and try the Skyway or adjacent roads. I want to get some night runs in too. I head out Sunday morning as I have to be back in FL on Monday. I'll post more details in a day or two.
