Out of that list, I count 8 that qualify for what I was referring to.

you can't truly tell the difference of these cars in GT3 unless you go with simulation tires. That's when you see how the power/weight distingush the car's behavior. Mix in the drivetrain and each car is unique.
Having said that, try driving a EVO vs a STI, you'll be surprise how different they feel. Heck, turn off AYC, and you'll noticed the difference right away.

Ok, let me ask you this. What was the most versions of a car in the game? I believe that the Evolution had more versions of the car in the game, than almost any, if all of them.
Plus, the designer of the game test drove all the cars to work out the Physics. After driving the Evolution, he bought one for himself.
If you upgrade the Evo in the game, it can hang with almost all the other cars, assuming the driver is good.

Actually from what i know the producer/director of the game loves evos. He drives one and its his favorite. I have read a couple articless that he made it so very few cars can actually beat the evo. but from playing the game i am pretty sure it doesn't include a straight line, like curvy tracks.

I spent many hours setting up each car the way I like them, but the Evo always came up short of the 22B and Skyline. The Skyline R34, in that game, is extremely well balanced, and neutral, compared to the Evo. Not to mention more power. The 22B was impressive as well, but not as fast as the Skyline (close though). The Evo was no match to these 2 cars.
Of course these are not the fastest cars in the game, but it was just a comparison between those 3.
It's been a year since I stopped playing the game, but I can try to dig up my setup sheets with lap times if needed

hi guys, this is my first post, this being the thread that convinced me to join. I have 100% on gran turismo now for about the third time and i specifically tested the totally tuned evo vs sti, and the evo takes the sti by about 4 seconds on laguna seca no matter what i do. It is much easier to drive. That said the sprinter trueno gt apex is my favorite car. I can run about 4 sec faster laps with this rather than the evo.
I really stink at GT3,....haven't gotten very far at all cuz for some reason I have to make a bunch of pit stops and the other computer car cheaters don't.
The fully modded Evo kicks ***. The fully modded Cobra kicks ***, but not as fun to drive as the Evo. The Supra blows unless you drive in a circle.

Plain and simple, my RUF porsche with me driving will rape any and every Evo in Gran turismo. 1/4 in 8.9 and insane handeling. If anyone begs to differ, please come to my house with your memory card and your wallet. My viper is a close 2nd, that car is amazing providing you know how to drive it correctly which 95% of the peopel out there don't.
omeezy, i hope that you can. with a 400+ hp advantage you should beat every evo. it is a well rounded and relatively cheap car though. and yes the viper kicks ***. i love the license test around laguna seca with the viper. fun stuff.
Suzuki Escudo kicks any car in that game's butt!!
1000hp, very cool in rally racing, heh. My friend has actually gotten that car to pull a wheely and drive around the test track it had so much power. We have the replay saved on a memory card!

I agree thae EVO is an awesome car in its price range but when you start pitting it against some of the big boys, it just can quite hang. I love runing my evo around the various track and drifting around the corners on the Monaco GP track. But for those time when my my firneds wanna use their badd *** skylines, supras and full out race cars or when i get frustrated out comes the RUF smoking its tires through the 1/4 mile test in a stuning 8.807 seconds!!!! damn I love that car.
