Lifters

OK....the love of my like has just under 9K miles. i changed the oil the other night w/ 5w40 mobil 1 just like i should. a few days before that i noticed a small tick from what sounds like a lifter....its NOT the injectors i got a stethoscope (not sure on the spelling but its gotta be close enough)....you have to listen past that. i notice it more when its warm, and when you just blip the throttle and the down rev its pretty loud. it is on the intake side. sounds like over towards the timing belt side. you cant hear it inside the car or while you driving. you can hear it w/ the hood shut though. i really dont want to take it to the dealer, but if it have to then i have no choice....he car does have some mods...main ones being a full TB, intake, boost controller, flash, and bov. i dought they'll void my warrenty but you never know, with "The best backed vehicles in the world"

The main reason i dont want to take it is because the last time i had it there and they were changing all the fluids they left the TC fluid fill plug loose and then i say loose i mean i could have put a nickle in between the plug face and where it tuoghes the TC. i went on a 750 mile trip after thatcam bace had the car on my friends lift and notices the DP coverd in oil, im like WTF!!! the $#!tty part of the whole thing is is my father is a salesman at the dealership and it kinda puts him in a weird spot if they screw it up...they got an rear full the last time.

i tried to put a Poll up but it didn't like me....

A: Do i take it to the dealer and hope they dont screw it up / scratch it / get it discusting

B: Do i wait and over the winter put a set of Revolvers in it with a new timing belt, head studs and a gasket.

If you take it to the dealership they are most likely going to say the noise is normal. If you push them to fix it or investigate, they will probably involve the rep from you area, who happens to be a complete *** and wont even fix brownbos or dodgy clear coat on a wing, which are documented problems with our unmodified cars.

So heres the way I see it. Your warranty is more or less over unless you can get the service manager on your side. Even if you do get him on your side, they cant do an oil change correct, so you dont want them working on your car.

So either

Put it back to stock and take it to a different dealership in a different area. Tell them you have just moved to the area. Get them to fix it.

Or

Put your car away for the winter, save up for the revolvers, and get a good shop to do the work!

Manual say's 10w30,unless it's going to be really cold and you can you a thinner oil to help with startup.

5w part is good for the startup and the 40 part is good for the high temp protection

The dealer wont bother with it.
They know what the sound is and they will tell you what I said before- "Its a normal thing for these cars to do that"

I just installed new lifters along with another set of cams. If your running stock cams I would change them out at the same time since you need to do the same amount of work anyway.
Dont waste your time with other dealers. its going to be the same response every where you go.
