machron1 and alleggerita hit it right on the head, the bumper on the evo isn't strong enough to pass our safety/insurance standards. SRT-4s have FMICs but they also have a reinforced front bumper. While you could install a similar reinforcement into an evo 8, you would have to crash a bunch to prove that the modification allows the cars to pass the tests.

Mitsubishi Canada will honor warranty on Mitsubishi vehicles from the U.S including the Evo.

the main reason is the front mount intercooler, supposedly a couple extra bumper mounts would do the trick to make it pass, the srt4 and the sti i think had that done for canada

STis have a top mount intercooler like all turbo charged subarus have. It isn't simply "the car has a front mount intercooler, therefore it is illegal" it's more "it would cost over x dollars to fix the car after a 5 mph collision, therefore it's illegal". You can get 1991 skyline's in Canada now though, so that's always an option. http://www.redlineimports.ca/index.htm

yeah i know about getting a skyline, but it was the front mount intercooler that makes the x amount of dollars so high, but i would rather have a newer car or brand new car then a used car. especially a 15yr old car. as much as i hate to say it, if the evo x doesnt come to canada in 08 or early 09 i might just switch to an sti but i would prefer an evo, though rumor has it the new ralliart might also have an option for awd and a turbo but only time will tell on that

I own an Evo in Canada... granted it has American plates >.<

Trust me, you don't want one. TOO MUCH ATTENTION.
