You will win,i traded my ss/sc cobalt in on my IX,my balt had around 260-270hp,with a stage 2and other supporting mods.And the evo will still come out on top.I will never puchase another GM again.

Well with 257whp and the Ion Redline weighs in at 2900Lbs he definitly has better power to weight than you. With that much power (if that is truly what he is making) he should be able to run mid 13s@103-106mph w/ good tires. I don't know how wll you drive, but your IX should run low 13s@103-106mph. Some have hit 12s of course, but I wouldn't bet any money on you running 12s, sorry.
So if your friend knows how to drive and has some good tires, it should be a very close race even from a dig. Now most of the time, a 1/4 mile trap is a good indicator of how cars will perform in a roll race, but this is one of the exceptions. If you race from a roll (yes I know street racing is bad) he will probably walk you a couple of cars, even if you ran a 13.4@104mph and he ran a 13.4@104mph, his car has better power to weight, and those Ions and Cobalts really pick up some steam from a roll. Get a tune and you will walk him.

We all talk like the evo is the best drag car! Get a supra for that! See if the kid has ***** to pitch that redline in a corner! I promise stock for stock you will kick ***! Then do a break test, you will win! oh and reliability... guess. yep win! Also when you drive in to the mall with an evo kids oh and aw over it... I would like to see that with an ion... Not that they are bad... But not ever as good as an evo!
The Evolution was made for rally, which means stoping, handeling and some but not tons of power. No ion or ss colbalt can say or do that! SRT4 made a valliant effort but, I know way to many srt4 owners that switch to an evo. The EVO RULES but it will never be a drag car stock! see if he can handle the twistys, I can put my sister in a car and tell her to drive as fast as she can down a drag, but tell her to go as fast as she can in a 90' turn? If the Evo breaks first (wins) then doesn't that mean by default it loses the reliability test?

They are really strong motors... The best 4 cyl Gm ever put out.... But its no 4g63 or sr20. Car for car the EVO brings a much better package! I will never dis on any ones car. But this is an EVO forum where the EVO is king. redline/srt4 just didnt have it like the evo and never will (stock)... stock 4 stock you get what you paid for.
