Why the EVO IX isn't overrated...

This in reply to the absolutely stupid thread by TurboIX, who's *****in' because he can't drive worth a damn and wants to blame it on the car. For a car to be overrated, it must be hyped up to do something, which in reality it really can't do, or not at the levels in which enthusiast and the manufactuer tells the people. Therefore you buy a product (the EVO) and it doesn't live up to it's billing.

EVO IX and Power
Ever since the EVO IX has been out people have made some claims about how it performs in stock form, and there have been a few members that have had made some ludicrous claims and the majority of others have made much more logical claims, if you choose to listen to the few over the majority, then that is your bad. A couple of claims I've seen and does the EVO IX live up to it.

EVO IX is more powerful than the EVO VIII- Yes, on the average the IX is making more power than the VIII. There are some VIIIs, especially 2005 models, that make really good power stock, but if you really take the time to research and find the data, you will notice that EVO IX does indeed make more power in stock form on the average than the VIII and most people agree with this.

EVO IX runs low 13s and can potentially run high 12s- Yes, if you know how to drive then you should be able to atleast hit low 13s, even my horrible driving *** ran low 13s. But 3000ways, every time I take my car to the drag strip I run high 13s@98mph, well practice b*tch, your problem. Who here remebers 11SECEVO??? B*tching and complaining about how the EVO is overrated because he knows how to drive and could only run 13.9@99mph in his stock EVO IX with 460 miles on it. Yeah it's always the car's fault, isn't it just amazing that with 1400 miles on the car and a little more practice his car runs this-

60' 1.940
330' 5.416
1/8th 8.368
MPH 82.96
1000' 10.948
1/4 13.091@105.51

60' 1.967
330' 5.500
1/8th 8.452
MPH 82.55
1000' 11.001
1/4 13.139@105.71 <-Best MPH

What does 11SECEVO have to say about this, "I gotta say I'm NOW really impressed!!"

EVO IX and Handling-
Wow the 350Z get's lucky in one magazine and all of sudden the EVO loses all street cred. Come on now, for the buck the EVO is one of the best handling vehicles available. Does that mean it can out handle every car in the world, NO, but then again, who ever said that? I mean TurboIX you really need to pay attention to what people type, when somebody says ONE of the best FOR THE MONEY, that is what they mean. Yes there are benefits to other vehicles such as the lightweight and RWD S2000, or even the 350Z, but the EVO and STi/STI also have benefits in which those cars cannot match. So in the end all these great handling vehicles have benefits and drawbacks, but like I said the EVO is grouped with these great vehicles, making it ONE of the best handling vehicles for the money. So where is it being overrated, nobody is saying it is the best, majority of people know the EVO has many benefits, but also some drawbacks, these are the people TurboIX you should listen too, not the few who claim the EVO can never lose.

EVO IX and Brakes-
Seems to me, that people agree the EVO has strong brakes, and seems to deliver with strong braking performance. So don't see where it is overrated there.

EVO IX and Daily Driving-
This is where the most complaints come from. Why does the EVO IX feel so sluggish? Well sh*t man!!!! This really pisses me off, because this muthaf*ckerin' sh*t has been discussed so many times, honestly why don't you newbies SEARCH! 2.0L 4-Cylinder and a rather large stock turbo boosting 20Lbs stock, WTF do you expect? Sorry hate to break it to you, but if you just have to feel the big rush of the turbo, then dude you gonna have to get on the gas a little. Sorry the MIVEC helps, but honestly it's still a 2.0L 4-Cylinder with a large stock turbo. I mean this is stuff you should already be aware of before buying the car, and if not then the answer can be found all around evom.net. So how is it this overrated, nobody claimed the EVO was a f*ckin Tiger down low. The info is all over this website explaining the EVOs sluggish feel at times off boost, so I ask again how is it being overrated?

Nobody claimed the EVO was the greatest daily driver, I feel a lot of bumps and my passenger seat rattles. The interior is nothing special to look at, but here we go again, who ever said the EVO IX had an awesome interior, um NOBODY. The seats are pretty nice, but other than that, nothing special. Who ever said, the EVO IX was a super attractive vehicle to look at, um NOBODY. So how is it being overrated?

I can go on with other things, but seriously nothing about an EVO IX is really be hidden, and if there are things about it you didn't know then that is your fault for not doing your homework. But for the main reasons we buy an EVO, it delivers, I'm sorry if you (TurboIX) were expecting a bit more out it, but that's your fault and your unrealistic expectations. The realistic performance expectations known by the majority here, has been delivered upon by Mitsubishi, and the drawbacks from owning an EVO is not hidden or pushed under a rug, but put out for the masses to see.

Dude if I was in the military...I would solute you. Very nice write-up. I agree some people buy this vehicle believing it can beat anything on the street/track. He made a comment about how the evos are not meant to drag race...shoot what about a mustang drifting? If it can be done...someone will do it.

I agree with you.

If anything, IMO they are under-rated.

If the Evo is not meant for drag race than show me a car which will get you to a constant 1.7-1.6 60' times on street tires and than take turns so hard that it makes you sick. Evo is the ultimate all around machine. There are other all wheel drive cars on the market but non will come close to what Evo is capable of from the box. I just don’t understand what else you would want from a car which only cost you $30,000 and it puts you in the same rank with super cars. I mean come on. Show me any car which will get you in to high 11 sec ¼ mile with just basic mods.

Good rant! Seriously! I agree with everything you said my friend! Where else can you find a car that can drag, rally, do road courses and perform so well on the street for the price?

IMO! the only other car I would consider (compare it to) would be the new Zo6 but being way farther up the financial chain it has its problems, performance off racetracks being the major 1...evo overrated?

and also..they had to de-tune the Evo,because of the price tag...too many possible "juveniles" getting behind the wheel and creating lawsuits against Mitsu. for gross negligence of a car manufacturer
