This is not the cause. this would only cause smoke to come from under the engine bay, not the exhaust.

The recall was only for certain Evo's and based on your VIN you may or may not have to take your car in for service.

I called, and my VIN did not land in the defective units...

I didnt even know there was a recall. I was smelling coolant one day, traced it to this coolants line you guys are talking about. It was starting to swell, looked like the rubber is weak. Had a bubble like it was about to burst! Nasty mess if it did.

Mine is leaking , not sure what hose its coming from very hard to trace it , you can smell the coolant leak. Mitsu replaced mine about 6 months ago , however its leaking again . Not sure if they will fix it for free this time ?

Already replaced mine, wasn't hard to do.

Optional:remove Intake pipe.
Remove BOV
Remove top section of IC pipe
Remove Top Radiator Hose
Remove Turbo Coolant hose
Replace
And reverse

45mins tops and doesn't require mechanical skills.

Cost 7 dollars at the dealer for the replacement hose.

Prolly residual coolant from the soo called flush on the motor that got cooked from the heat. Will go away sooner or later.

I received the letter in the mail that mine was one of the recalled probably about 8- 9 months ago and they replaced it in about 1/2 hour.
