any reason to need a flash before getting a MBC

someone told me that it would be a better idea to get a flash the same time i got a MBC so the car wouldnt think its not working properly w/o a flash and go into lean mode or something. if someone could explain that would be great. thanks!

if you have your mbc then you can crank up the boost. the flash would be able to configurated to the amount of boost your running. so it would be smart to get a mbc before your flash.

it would be ideal because after the mbc is in, the car wont taper like it used to anymore...however it is not required. i know a lot of ppl who ran on ebc and mbc's for months before getting tuned. you will enjoy the power either way. one of the cheap mods that make a diff

Initially yes you can run a little faster but you are also limited. Ultimately the tuning will allows you to run even more boost and safer.

Your ECU is now making the mixture rich because the turbo is putting more air. This is not really the best way to do business. I am not saying I wouldn't agree with you on your statements, I know for a fact that a Evo with a MBC will run faster tha the one that doesn't have a MBC but alwyas remember the safety factor.

Yea i know... I want to get tuned, but i live in an area that has 93 octane and im moving to an area that has 91 in June. I just dont have the money to pay for 2 tunes. Also i baby the car. I hardly get into boost and right now its set at 20 Psi. I dont wanna jack the thread, but what would be a good/safe boost level to run after a good tune (Vishnu maybe...? )? This is running no meth or anything else. Just a TBE, MBC, and then tune.

w/o a tune i only have mine set to 18 and it is still faster than w/o the mbc and is still completely safe as long as you dont buy a crappy mbc that will cause lots of boost spikes.

Agreed. Your car will only run better on better gas anyway. I will however run an EBC without tuning at a low level for a while myself. I have an AVC-R ready to go in now.
