What are the diffrences?
The RS subtracts the following options from a normal 05 VIII:
* radio (but if you buy one used, the previous owner might've installed one anyway)
* keyless entry
* power locks
* power mirrors
* power windows (obviously not an issue for Ferrari Enzo owners since that car has roll-up windows as well)
* ABS (while it's not necessarily a good thing, lacking ABS doesn't mean that you'll crash into a tree when braking in the rain, it just means that you'll have to have a better-trained foot and know when to pump your brakes)
* color-keyed side mirrors and door handles
* armrest over center storage console
* map lights
* rear windshield wiper
* wing
* various sound deadening
The RS adds the following:
* triple-gauge package
* aluminum roof (instead of steel)
* lighter trunklid

Ive heard bad things about the MR's transmission and things along those lines.I want somnething with low miles (under20k) and definetley stock. Any information you guys could give me would be great.
thanks
thanks
Just get the 06 at he most you will end up having to pay 5k maybe less depending on what deals you can get.. It really hard to find good used evos, I would not buy one unless you know the person.
well form what you guys have told me i think i am going to go with an 05 GSR. the RS might be a little quicker but i would rather have power windows and the other features thaa are included. Thanks everyone for all the info.
one question though:
How much faster is the MR than the GSR?
I am going to be using it for drag racing mostley but would like it to handle well when i take it to an open event at the track.
Is there any disadvantages for the MR has for drag racing?

Regarding straightline acceleration, the VIII and VIII MR are so close that it's more of a driver's race. However, the MR's different gearing in the '05 model year seems to give it better acceleration once you pass 60 mph, and it is clearly evident as you get closer and closer to 100, and more so beyond. Plus you can go a little bit beyond the 5-speed's 155 mph top speed.
Regarding track performance, the MR should prove to be marginally quicker on timed courses
If I didn't already have an EVO I would go get a used EVO9 and nothing else. I have driven every year on the track and the EVO9 GSR out performs them all. Stock or modded the EVO9 is the hot ticket.
Um... I think there has been discussion on this board clearly stating that Evo production has already ceased, and whatever Evos that have been built will be the last IXs, up until the Evo X is released in roughly a year's time.
yeah i know that but since all the IX's will be used then and not new they will be cheaper than they are now and im sure you will be able to find at least on with under 20k miles on it somewere.
