JDM Evo 8 GSR
JDM Evo 8 GSR
If you've been reading the UK mags lately, some reviewers will tell you that the 8 is a "marginal" improvement over the 7.
I disagree.
I used to own a lightly modded JDM Evo 7 GSR (filter, exhaust etc). I don't have the numbers to prove it, only anecdotal evidence, but my current car which is stock feels way more powerful than the 7.
It could be because of the new 6-speed gearbox. Third and fourth are very strong now. The shifting is way more precise, smoother, and with shorter throw; in the 7 the chance of missing gears is still pretty high.
It could be because of the new Super AYC which I'm now beginning to think really does work and not just marketing rubbish and prone to understeer like it was in the 7. It could also be the fact that the ECU has been slightly tweaked to give a bit more torque on the low end.
Whatever it is, I'm wondering how
is going to be able to top this model other than adding more power (which is not that hard to do on our own).
So, to the person who asked me whether to wait for the JDM 8 or get the JDM 7 right away.... wait for the 8. It is the more complete and IMO better car.

Any idea of the total weight compared to the 7?

I was wondering why people thought that the JDM 7 was better than the JDM 8... I mean the JDM 8 is missing a total of what 5whp from the JDM 7??? I don't see why that is a big deal.. the Evo 8 has a brand new gear box and super ayc..which actually does somethin for this car.. so i always suspected it to be one of the best evo's...atleast better then the Evo 7..
