no way man.. 10 minutes between coats.

since you used a spray on enamel it will get much harder as time goes on. a few days will need to pass until it gets considerably hard..

ideally you should have used duplicolor wheel paint. i recently painted my wheels with that that stuff, and it came out great.

Well I'm starting on my wheels today... I'm going with a flat black + clear (hoping it won't be super glossy)

The only problem your going to run into is that you can't find chrome/sliver paint thats made by duplic, or i didn't find any, you won't find the engine enmal paint.

1. strip down paint and wax- paint thinner, sanding
2. primer- 2-3 coats 2-3 bottles
3. paint the lip sliver, cover everything else with tape and notecards
4. wait tell it drys all the way do 2-3 coats
5.cover the lip with tape and notecards
6. paint the rest black

Well I've got 2 of mine totally done. I only got one good coat of clear on them before I had to head to work this morning. The instructions on the bottle of clear coat says if you wait more than one hour between coats you need to wait 7 days for it to cure before applying another coat... so I'll do the other 2 today and wait a week and re-clear all 4 of them.

here's the thread I did for mine. I followed similar steps. Sanded well, cleaned, 2 coats of primer, 15 min wait, 3-4 coats paint, let dry for 3-4 days, 3-4 coats clear, let dry for 2-3 days. This was the third time I painted min.

This the thread from the first time I painted them. gunmetal with silver lip.

I just used a ton of coats of engine enamel, with no primer (I wet sanded off the paint that was on there)

Maybe yours is chipping because you didn't use any clear coat, or at least you didn't mention you used any.

We should start a thread for people to post pictures of their painted rims and the colors they used so people can see different combo's. I am going to do this over the winter but not sure of what color. I want something that ties in with the CF lip and spoiler but not overly shiny.

I use this very very fast drying paint for m engraving business. Its the same paint they use in the monument business. Its called Lithachrome. It dries to the touch in less than 5 mins.

If I decide to paint my rims I will try this paint out. Its very tuff and also has a seperate clear coat spray.
