I dunno about this video....seems kinda sketchy and possibly fixed? Does the EVO driver know how to race? anyways the WRX must have been modded quite a bit to do that kind of damage to the EVO....thanx for the vid though

Yesterday i raced a Moded Black WRX up in palos verdes, He was pretty fast.. he would always take off first, and i would have to play catch up since it was only a one lane road.. he seemed really fast. .but then i caught him at a red light.. It was a single left turn lane which then opens up to two lanes.. It was on a hill so there was a lot of curves.. So once the light turned green he went first then i closely followed.. Once pass the intersection he had about 2 cars on me. Right when i shifted to 2nd the road was curving to the left and thats where i caught up.. by the end of 2nd we were dead even, And when i shifted to 3rd the road once again curved to the left and this was were i slowly walked away from the wrx.. The wrx had a really nice exhaust sound similar to my exhuast when i had the test pipe.. Other then that i have no idea what other mods the wrx had except for exterior mods like Gold rims and other cleared out side markers.. We both had one passanger in the car.. it was a good race =D

what kind of "damage" are you talking about? it didn't look that bad, not like you could tell from that video anyway.

I have "raced" a slightly modded WRX and he didn't fall too far behind in a straight line..

Curves would be the best place to run, cuz the EVO should spank it then..

What would happen if the EVO was slightly modded...

I have a question...

ok, I am a rally fan first. I love all of these cars (EVO, WRX, 206, Xsara, etc.) Just because some magazine guys say that the EVO is great in the corners doesn't mean that EVERY EVO driver will be able to "spank" everyone else in the canyons. I mean, do you really think that? With that rule of thought, what will you do when the Mazda RX8 hits the streets? what will you have to say then?

There was nothing wrong with that race or out of the ordinary. Ignore the first couple of vids of the WRX burning out cuz they weren't racing. The last race on the video was the real race and the WRX on got a car length on him after reaching 120 mph. Plus the WRX didn't have a passenger like the Evo did. I think without the passenger it would've been more like a 1/2 car lead. He had a Stage 0 upgrade + Downpipe. That would put it pretty close to a stock spec Evo in the straights. I think his launches were bad and a lot of us could've made the race much closer from a stop. But all in all about what I would expect. The Evo really isn't that fast from a roll. It's quick but leaves something to be desired.
