Bought an Evo yesterday but....

1. When I let go the throttle there is a weird buzzing sound coming from the drive train and I don't know if it is from the front or back.

2. The driver side window has a lot of wind noise when going 60mph and above.

3. When the car is idling there are some vibrations/buzzing, I can feel it through the steering wheel.

Thanks for the help.

Are you talking about the deceleration noise for the buzzing from idle?

I get an odd buzz/clicking under hard acceleration that sounds like a small relay clicking... The sound not overly loud and seems to be coming from the packager area around the glove box... Is this similar to what you are referring to? I have been a tad concerned with this.

I did a search on "noise" and found a long thread about deceleration noise. Seems like A LOT of people are having the same problem.

As for the driver side wind noise I still couldn't find anything yet.

You still have a freakin warranty, just bring it in to the dealer and they"ll fix it for you.
I used to have that kind of problem too on my Integra GS-R.

If a lot of people are having the same problem, then maybe it isn't a problem!

AWD cars have a lot of gears to mesh, so they make different noises than FWD or RWD cars.

I'd say any problem you experience bring it to the dealer. Everybody talking about it won't officially make Mitsu aware, regardless if they are reading these forums or not.

As far as the clicking noise - there is also a thread about a noise from the pass. front side of the car, which someone/dealers have confirmed its the weatherstripping. Might want to check it out around the windshield.

As far as the tranny noise - most people aren't hearing it if they hear it at all after 500+ miles.

My new EVO has the decel "buzz" too. My Subaru had the same noise. From what I understand it is the backlash of the front differential. It is not a defect nor a missadjustment, it is just the nature of having an AWD manual trans...

Question Ugh

These reports of buzzing on deceleration are troubling. I certainly hope it's not a widespread Evo tranny problem.

I don't wanna scare anyone, but you guys might want to read this thread here on EvolutionM regarding these noises: Evo Whining Noise May Be Tranny Failure?

It would be better to find this out sooner rather than later. :/

Anyone has the rough idle issue? I can feel my steering wheel vibrating when the AC is on and the fan under the hood kicks in.

I wouldn't describe my Evo's idle as rough, but it feels as though it's ticking over really high even though it's only ticking over at 850 rpm. Wheras my previous car ticked over high, but you wouldn't notice it just by sound and vibration, you had to look at the tach to know.
What I am getting at is that , your Evo is a new car, it feels different, acts different , maybe give it a little time to get used to it. At the end of the day you have the warranty, so if anything is wrong you can get it fixed.
