Is this your first manual car? If it is take it easy and learn the basics.

If you didn't want to speed away, why would you go from 4th to 2nd? Why not just go down to 3rd or simply not downshift at all?

I have no idea why I didn't go into 3rd. I just wasn't thinking. I downshifted because my car was bogging.

There are only two reasons why I downshift while being tailgated. The first is pretty obvious, to get the revs high enough to speed away (especially important in a lancer). This is truly rare and I can't actually remember the last time I did it. The second is to **** off the guy behind me, usually a hick in a rusted out truck. I downshift and use the transmission to slow me down, giving the assh0le a pretty good hint to either pass or back the fu<k off.

The second option was what I was trying to do but what I was doing totally went wrong.

i'am glad your ok though, it was fate
If you mean saving up my money ever since I was 6 and working 50 hours a week 2 summers ago then I guess I will get over it huh? I never yelled at my parents, screamed or begged them. I simply made a deal. I pay down payment, pay monthly payments and I wouldn't crash. I did everything except for crashing so now my parents have already told me. They won't buy me another car again. If you didn't read my other posts, it was stated that I would buy another evo in a year or so after I am done saving up for one.

Ok I'm sorry but I have to call BS on that. What kind of 6 year old has money? I know I sure as hell didn't. If I needed clothes, I was bought clothes, if I wanted a toy I was bought that toy (sometimes). Saying you work 50 hours a week for 2 summers is meaningless, welcome to life. I'm guessing that when you say you pay monthly payments, you mean you pay a small amount of what is actually owed. Otherwise your story makes no sense. Where would your parents come in if you paid for the car?

Okay. My dad started a savings account for me when I was 6. By the time I got to the age of 11, I was getting allowance, birthday money etc. When I say I work 50 hours a week, I don't mean I have it worse out of everyone. I mean that as a teenager, rather than spending my time with friends, hanging out and having fun, I was saving up for a car I really wanted. I used to work at Taco Bell making $6.50 an hour. Now I work at Just Tires making $8.35 making montly payments. My parents came in because I don't have credit to get the car. The car is under my dads name and he was going to put it under my name as soon as I turned 18 so I can work a full-time job and go to college.
