Boost gauge install - how hard is it?

I'm thinking of getting the Defi Blue Racer with a column pod. It seems simpler to install than a mechanical/vacuum type, and it doesn't require the Defi control unit.

Has anyone install this, and how hard was it to do? I tried searching in the How-to section, but I couldn't find any info/guides.

Also, is the Blue Racer accurate enough?

TIA

Looks good.

Can you give me a general idea of what you had to do?

just so you know there are guides in the how to section. i did research for about 3 hours. then took me about 45 minutes to install it once i figured out how to take my glove box off.

basically you cut the vaccum line insert the t piece zip tie the hose back in and run the hose into the cabin. (assumin if the hose connects to the gauge) then just mount your gague and hook up your wires

Just do some searching around, there are a handful of very good diy guides

Out of 1-10 I would say this install is 1.5

Read this article it tells you what wires to tap into, just follow directions they are the same accept you dont need the controller. The blue racer wires are the same colors as the control unit,so they splice to the same locations.

Yes, I saw that one, but I think/thought that the Blue Racer's installed differently? The guide is for mechanical/vacuum types right? And the Blue Racer is the electronic type that uses a signal from somewhere? I have no idea what I'm talking about.

Blue Racers have sending unit in the engine bay, boost hookup stays in the engine bay only the sensor wire goes through the fire wall.

then he just needs to read the guide in the how ot section this is how i installed my imperial defi gagues.

so instead of routing the hose in just route the cable in.

did the column pod screw on, 3M tape on??? How clean is it? I hate tacky pods that are barely holding on with wires flailing everywhere. . . .

You can use the sticky strips, but they don't hold, or you can drill 3/16 hole and use the four plugs too hold it down.I used the plugs, works good and looks clean.
