im really interested in trading in my 03 bmw 330i for a evo IX... was just wondering would the bmw 330i fuel consumption be less than a stock evo IX even if you would drive the evo mostly from 2000 to 3000 rpm and would rev the engine up from 3500 onwards from time to time? how many miles per tank would you be getting if you drove like 60% highway, 40% city(2000-3000rpm most of the time, w/ boosting from 3500-6000rpm at times)?

if your really worried about fuel consumption.. than I'll say it again like everyone else does the EVO is not for you.. If you think the cost of gas is expensive.. just wait untill you have to replace your stock $200+ Advan tires every 10,000 miles.. !!

last fill up i got was 238 miles on tank and fill up around 12.38 gallons.. which gets roughly bout 19 mpg.. and that's bout how much i usually get... and this is normal driving.. and rarely boosting..

This is one high-maintenance car (fuel, good set of tires, synthetic oil, etc)--be sure you have adequate budget for it

Some people claim they get mid 20's MPG or even high 20's MPG b/c they dont boost or whatever--I find that realllllly hard to believe because the best I ever did in 3 years of driving evo was 22...Most people agree that they get 19 MPG, give or take 2

Well believe it. You just described my driving habits (but I DO get on it now and then) and the lowest mileage I've ever had was 22.5mpg, which was my first tank of gas while everything was breaking in. After that the worst I've gotten is 23.5 and that was only once. I have never gone less than 260 miles before my gas light comes on. I just filled up yesterday when it came on at 275.

I get 21 with pretty much all city driving. I take stoplight/backroads to and from work. I imagine I'd get mid 20s easily if it was highway.

I get a consistent 21-22 mpg with mixed city/highway driving. I don't do stoplight-to-stoplight drag racing, but I do put the throttle down when I get the chance. For all the fun the evo gives me, I think it does very well on the gas mileage.

Then, what's the f#cking point of having an Evo? We have enough poseurs in our ranks as it is.

Please re-read the text I quoted and then briefly explain the relevance of your comment.

FWIW, if you're talking about drag racing, the Evo has other capabilities, as well. None of then are even remotely tapped by running at 2-3000 RPM.

I think you're the one that needs to re-read it.

He said mostly 2k-3k, with 3.5k - 6k from time to time. I think that describes almost everyone that uses their Evo for a DD, as I know I personally can't get on it much on the way to/from work unless I want to put my bumper up someone's tailpipe.
