anyone heard of the serious drop in gas milage from cams? What cams are good for a daily driver?

From my reading here a popular choice is a 264/272 combo.

Gas mileage is highly dependent on your ability to keep a lead foot off the floor.

Do a search on cam's

Jun's 272's wont idle well make more power
HKS 272's idle better make slightly less
Helix 272's idle like stock

And the list goes on.. and on...

If you are doing cams might as well get valvesprings and retainers so you can rev it up a bit more.

1. Downpipe
2. Cat Delete
3. O2 housing
4. Exhaust (thinking of getting JIC, opinions needed)
5. Watermeth injection (aqua mist system)
6. MBC
7. Ecu flash
8. Fuel pump

What do you all think?
I think your list of mods are pretty good. You don't need cams to reach the 300 HP range. You made a good choice with the Aquamist water injection system. Most of the people that have given you advice didn't realize that you will be using crappy 91 octane gas and the Aquamist will definitely help keep that knock down. My mods are similiar to yours and I have made about 310 HP with a very conservative tune using a Aquamist 2D water injection system with 91 octane.

Very true... I will be using crappy 91 gas.

Most importantly to me is running reliable though. I am on the fence about either meth or cams... there are so many differences of opinion. Hard to decide.

I also live with crappy 91 octane.

What puts me off on meth is you need a good failsafe because when it does run out you don't want your tune suddenly developing hiccups.

the aquamist has a warning light... is that a decent failsafe?

I'm running 50% distilled water and 50% methonal and it's been working great for the past 2 years. Cams will be great to, but I would deal with getting the most perfomance out of our crappy 91 octane.
