you will see good gains from a custom tune on a stock car.

No, just get flashed - you don't need to buy your own tuning device. You could tune yourself for free using EcuFlash if you know how to do it - otherwise, just pay for an e-flash, mail-in flash, or drive down to CT and get custom flashed by Dynoflash ($400).

What do you mean you can't find anyone with Comp 280s and a flash? Plenty of people sell Comp 280s, and there are plenty of flashing options. You don't need to get them both at the same place. Regardless, you don't have nearly enough money to worry about cams yet...

D-tech??? That's a terrible choice...what in the world would possess you to buy that? Selling the stock wheels for cams is great, although you have no need for 280s, but the D-tech purchase makes absolutely no sense.

They just aren't needed. They are built to make power beyond where the stock turbo makes power. 272s are a perfect match for the stock turbo. If you plan to do a big turbo upgrade later, then getting 280s now is fine. It's actually fine either way, but 280s aren't optimum on the stock turbo and with light mods. People just like to get 280s, because they think it's cool to say "I have 280s."

You don't need to leave your car stock anymore, but getting a D-tech instead of a flash would be a terrible decision.
