Only paid 20k, and s2000's suck. I don't know about your car but my Evo is NOT a freaking rally car. Its a tarmac shredding grip machine.

If I recall correctly, the only reason the evo exists is because of homologation rules in rally. Yes the evo is a great car for tarmac racing, but it was born in rally. Why treat it like a garage queen? God knows if I had an evo (or since I'm in Canada an STi) I'd drive it in winter.

This will be the 3rd winter in my WS-50s, loving it. So tell me, who has two sets of wheels, or do peeps just swap tires (frowned upon)?

I have my stock IX MR BBS wheels with Advans and a set of beautiful GSR wheels with WS-50's on them. I'm itching for some snow in Indy... it's driving me nuts with this 60 deg weather though. =/

why do you guys waste your money on blizzaks. i have the hankook icebear w300s and they are just as good if not better. I live in park city, utah and have to drive through a foot of snow on a daily basis. You haven't seen snow until you have been to utah. LDS represent. Just kidding but seriously buy the icebears.

Nothing about what makes an Evo stop, go, or turn is a cheap part. It's all top-quality stuff. That's why we pay $30000 for a $15000 econobox. You're suggesting we cut corners and save a few bucks at the one place where the car touches the road?

I'd want to see evidence that the Hankooks are as good or better before I got them.

I'm waiting to see someone post that they swap out their 2.3L stroker motor for the winter.

I was torn between the blizzaks and the Hanook tires. The place I went to had both in stock. I searched and searched but didn't see the evidence from anyone but sales people that the hanook tires were any better then the blizzaks. There are however countless reviews from EVO owners who have blizzaks and absolutly love them.

For me it came down to the choice of saving a couple of bucks and possibly winding up in an accident because I didn't have the absolute best performing snow tires (which I needed at the time) or getting the blizzaks and being safe... I picked the latter and have no regrets. I was able to drive threw everything mother nature could muster and still have 75% tread left for this year. God I love this car!

Yeah, I accidentally got the WS50s and they are over kill in my neck of the woods. Wish i would have gotten the Ws22 or a good peformance snow tire, since half the time the streets are clear in the winter. Although, the Ws50s are hilarious in how you can fly thru the snow.

I have prior experience with the WS-50's on one of my '03 Evo's and they were EXCELLENT in nasty winter weather. I also went to TireRack and read every single review on WS-50's and there wasn't a negative one to be found. I don't consider it a waste to buy something you know is high quality and has a strong reputation in the market... sure, I guess I could take a chance, save a few dollars and test out an unknown... but why? I already know what works.

I am running nokian hakkapeletta rsi snow tires this year..they seem ok in the dry so far but lane changes at over 70 seem a bit unresponsive..the tread is a very agressive directional pattern with tons of siping..alot of reviews say they are the best studless winter tires made, I guess I will find out soon.

mike314 : Iam running same tires! no problem that will be second snow season, btw iam thinking to take the car to UTAH, not sure if thats a great idea for snowboarding...

AND yes salt is bad! so what.... ITS a damn car, you want me to put the car away for winter? Crap. <- i dont care.

Thats why i bought the car to drive it.... IF i would live in Cali, or Texas anywhere that dosnt snow i would probably drive rear wheel car. Thinking about M3 but I cannot get rid of my EVO just because of weather issues and i enjoy driving evo everyday....

Sonic: you need to relax about telling people not to drive the car thru the winter time. Too much fun... waching people in SUV's thinking they own the road.

EJ Evo, i swap out my suspesion from GSCs to full stockers. I have two sets of wheels and tires and two sets of suspension. Which makes it pretty easy

Winterizing my car means making sure I don't have pure water in the radiator. Thats about it
