IX MR Weight

Mitsubishi claims the IX MR to be 3285 pounds.

Is there anyone who has stripped the IX MR or has done any lightweight to it?
I am going to try to get mine under 3000lbs by as much as possible and just want to know the effects of doing this IF its even worth doing. This will be a lot of weight to lose, so let me know please.

In addition to this, how many carbon fiber replacements have you done if that is the route you went to lighten the car?

what i do to save weight before every race is take out all of the floor mats which is like 4 lbs, i take out the rear tire and jack which is like another 30-40 lbs and i take out the back seats which is another 20 lbs. and the hood vent which is like 3 lbs. i have wheels that weigh 14 lbs vs the stock which weigh like 20. so thats another 24 lbs. i have a lighter exhaust which is another 20-30 lbs lighter than the stocker. some other things you could do is a lightweight battery kit which is like a 15 lb reduction in the front. most cf hoods weigh more than the stock hood but some cf trunks like i think the robispec one only weighs 7lbs while the stocker is like 27 lbs. go to buschurs site they have a whole list of things to do. oh yah plus i removed my rear bumper support b/c of the jdm ix bumper and i guess that weighs another 10 lbs. the only cf thing that i think you would need would be a cf trunk but i think you could get under 3000 w/o that anyways http://www.buschurracing.com/evo9-weight-reduction.htm

By door sticker, do you mean the sticker on the door sill that shows tire inflation pressures? If so, it's not wrong. That's not curb weight. It's GVWR.

getting under 3000lbs might be difficult to do unless you're willing to go extreme (i think). but the brakes could be a place to look at; maybe 3+lbs/corner to get rid of depending who you get them from. FYI: the RS is claimed to be 3219lbs; that's 66lbs lighter from the start but downside there, too. good luck...

If you've got the MR and your gonna totally track it out, don't forget to take out the radio/cd, etc.... Still though, it's gonna be very difficult to get the weight under 3000lbs. Also, some of the best mods to get you around the track faster will actually be adding a little extra weight to the car (ie .. rear strut bars, stiffer sway bars, camber plate (+/-); don't forget, the best modifications for a fast track lap are suspension and brakes. (OH AND DRIVER SKILL)!!! Still, 3000 lbs will be hard to do.

Yea, there is a lot I can remove from the interior. Also by doing getting aftermarket parts that are lighter like the TI exhaust wheels and flywheel etc. But this is still not reducing the weight quite as much as I like.

Anyone got opinions on removing some sheet metal or excess fasteners?

Nice looking ride. Love the rear bumper. What do you have for a suspension on there? It looks real aggressive!!
