Freakin snow!!!!!
I'm a DSM retread too and was first on the Talon Digest and later on DSMtalk. One of the perpetual threads on these boards was where to get bent wheels fixed. And these cars, at least from the maker, were on 55 series rubber. How many bent wheel threads have you seen here? The difference is amazing.
I had a 1G turbo laser (a six/four combo - you'd have to be a DSMer to know what this means) and when backing and turning I hit a post. The post only contacted the tread of the driver's front tire - the rear of the tire was sticking out of the wheel well since I was also turning. This dislodged the rear bushing on the lower control arm and blew the strut. That shock also wasn't near what my Evo took with no apparent effect.

You can barely notice it when your alignment is off. I would suggest have it checked for free. They usually don't charge you just to check it. Call your fave alignment shop first as not all can align an Evo.
I bought the 5 year unlimited alignment from NTB for $160+. Call first. G/L!!

I actually wrote to the city yesterday about it, asking what happens in a situation like this. They wrote me back that they sent a form to my house that I can fill out and might reimburst me for any damage. I will take the car in to my shop and have my alignment redone, verify if the wheel didn't get damaged, rebalance and inspect the tire (I just bought brand new avans for my car 2 weeks ago, and they have a very stiff sidewall, I want to double check that no damage was cause, last thing I need is a tire blow out on a hard turn). So if they reimburst me for that, I will be happy.
I will keep you guys updated.
BTW. On of my buddy's co-worker went through that same pothole and really damaged his car, wheel and suspension.

I had traded a DSM on my Evo purchase and still had in the garage four new Dunlop Winter Sport M3's on black steel rims. I had purchased then that fall for the DSM from the Tire Rack. These 55 series tires were the same diameter as the Advans so two of them went on the rear with the help of some washers as spacers. On the front I figured the car would do better in the snow with narrower tires so I mounted the spare.
With this strange looking setup I could at least get around. I learned during this episode why the rally drivers use the emergency brake. The only way I could make my car turn at interstections was by pulling on the EB.
I was driving in Chicago in a rental on the IKe expressway and I never seen so many potholes. Heck I grip about the small ones here in Dallas. As they say up nort - Chicago has two seasons. 1. Winter 2. road construction.
