Yet another Evo thread on Bimmerforums
Yet another Evo thread on Bimmerforums
Of course everyone and thier mother is saying how crappy the Evo is and how is such a rice-mobile. I do like this one guy's post though...
It starts with a quote from a (typical) bimmerforums poster, and is then addressed by another bimmerforums member. Nice to know that not everyone is completely closed-minded.
START OF POST:
WHOA!
Quote:
Well seeing that this is a Bimmerforum (not Rice). We can talk all the **** we want about other cars. Same **** goes on in every other forum; they talk **** about our cars as well and we do the same thing. So don't think it's gonna end now with what you are trying to say and just let it go. I will always say **** about other cars if people continue saying stuff about my car. Aight!
Paraphrased:
"I'm content with being a narrow-minded fool who likes to feel better about himself because my car costs significantly more then most other peoples cars."
Wow. Wow wow wow. I was hoping to install in you a sense of understanding for other car makes.
M-life? I just don't get you guys! I will never understand how some people claim to be enthusiasts yet will poo-poo every enthusiast car simply because they think its junky!! Argghghgh
I'd like to claim this is just because you are "young and uninformed" or something... but CHRIST! I'M NINETEEN!!! This is why young BMW drivers are ATTACKED at this forum! Because they'll always start spouting hackneyed "M-life BABE-Y!" or "M-power 4 lizife" or some other bull**** crap!!!!!! AAAHHHHHHHHH
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF THIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Talk about making waves
The EVO is really sending shockwaves through the performance community. The denial is the funniest thing and people who have never driven the car who seem to have the strongest opinions on how well it drives and performs compaired to what they have/love
Nice job defending our honor in in such a dignified and balanced way Jedi

I find that most E46 owners are ummm the head up their asses variety. While most Z3 Coupe/M Coupe owners are not and yes my opinion is biased.
But WRX4ever (with JDM EVO VII) used to be a M Coupe owner. I partly blame him for me wanting to get an Evolution as well
check out how i vigurously defended the evo in another bmw forum. this got me banned from that forum

That's some entertaining reading! I especially like this one:
"yea i totally agree on the last part..
whocares how fast u can go....if u can't pick up any girls...."
You know Ron Jeremy drives a Ford Taurus

I know that thread possibly started before the June issue of MT but why hasn't anybody dropped those numbers on them. Even if the numbers are questionable it would still be funny to see that guys reaction who takes stock in MT's numbers...
Not all bimmer owners are car enthusiasts.
I work with a guy, let's call him Pete (not his real name)...
Pete used to drive a 735i. One day he took three of us to lunch, all three of us happened to be car guys... Pete's idea of showing off his car to us was accelerating as fast as he could in a straight line and then slamming on the brakes at the last possible moment. But when he slammed on the brakes, there was an awful noise and vibration coming from the front end of the car. Immediately we started asking him how long he's had the noise -- it seems it's been making the noise for a while now. We got to the restaurant, and all three of us passengers headed right for his front wheels. His rotors were ruined -- deep grooves in both front rotors. We tried to impress on him that this is not a repair that he can put off. He needs to make an appointment now to get this fixed. It was hard to convince him, since he had been driving like that for a while with (in his mind) no problems.
But he did go get new rotors and pads. If he hadn't taken us to lunch, I don't know how he'd have figured out that his brakes were on the verge of total failure.
Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago... I took Pete and another friend to lunch in my Evo, which was then about 10 days old... Pete rides in the back seat. The first stoplight leaving work, I take a left turn a bit fast -- at about 7 tenths. Nothing that was risky; not the "oh my god how did you do that?" cornering that the Evo is capable of. Pete tells me in all seriousness that I shouldn't corner so fast because the wheels might come off my car.
Then I notice that Pete has taken off his seatbelt. I yell at him to get that damn belt on...
Ten minutes later, we're making a U-turn at a traffic signal. The arrow turns green, the road is empty, so after checking if Pete's seatbelt is on, I do a medium hard launch followed by a 9 tenths U-turn. We straighten out some three or four seconds later doing 40 mph in the opposite direction. Pete is speechless.
