Man, just read this post & kinda scares me....I too live in Knoxville, just had my 03' Evo w/42k for a week now and realize that 3rd gear definately grinds. Good thing I purchased a 2 yr warranty. I definately want to get this fixed b4 I add all my mods, just don't want to take it to a shady Mitsu dealership here
Sorry bout u Jordan, and I think i've seen ur Evo around town, bronze Grahm Lights & large front mount?

Hey Ramen,
I took my Evo by Rice a few weeks ago to have the transfer case looked it since it was whining and still under warranty. They denied repair saying my car was too modified, even though I had not touched the drivetrain. (still has stock clutch) They also drained the fluid for the TC, which I had changed out twice already, and tried to tell me the TC was "burnt up" because of the way the hypoid gear oil smelled...you know, kinda like hypoid gear oil? (oldest trick in the shady mechanic's handbook)
Douchebags.
So I sent it to Shep racing as per their meticulous shipping instructions...put the unit in a big Rubbermaid tub with lots of padding all around it. It took them a week to get to it, at which time I was told that the ring and pinion were damaged beyond repair, and the case would have to be replaced. It was $2500 and they just used the internals from my old TC (2005 with ACD) and replaced the bell housing and output shaft housing with new, non-ACD parts. I assume it was serviced as specified on their site...new shims, bearings, etc. Once I gave them the green light, the turn-around was very quick...they had it ready the next day.
Then, and this is the best part, they ship it back in a cardboard box that barely fits around the TC...very little packaging...the TC is pressing directly against the sides of the box, and it's sitting directly on a piece of wood paneling in the bottom that is busting into splinters. Wood chips are everywhere, and since they didn't plug the hydraulic input line, there is no telling how much wood got down inside there.
2 days after install and everything seems fine...I do hope their service is taken more seriously than their shipping.
I'll bet they have a nice collection of Rubbermaid totes going as well.

Yep! Thats me! I managed to get everything straightened out with the dealership after I threatened to sue, in which case they promptly had me submit copies of all of my receipts for insurance. Had a check a week later. Everything is back to normal now, except I still need to get the rear window retinted but I've been lazy.
Glad u got that worked out, I'd probably stab the repairman in the eye with my keys
Taking my Evo back to the dealer this week & hope to get my problem fixed with no hassle (hasn't been touched w/mods yet). I pretty much have my stage 1 kit sitting in my floor anxiously waiting to get put on. What all mods u got, and u guys still meet up at KK on Wed?
So, I have my precious EVO towed to Rice Mitsubishi here in Knoxville to have some clutch work done. I have to leave it for almost a week and a half waiting on LancerShop.com to ship me the clutch
. I be sure to leave them the keys and lock the doors. Well, the other day I received a call from the service manager saying that someone has broken into my car and stolen my radio. Sure enough, when I drive down there that is exactly what has happened. It appears the bastards knew what they were doing. They used a punch in the bottom left hand corner of the window (cant see in the pics), crawled inside the car, and proceeded to disassamble the radio bezzle. They got away with my Pioneer DVD unit, iPod adapter, and iPod. Best part about all of this is.....Rice WILL NOT take any responsibility for anything that has happened. Hell, I even called into the PD to file a report and couldn't even get a cop out there to look at the car in person. So, along with having to pay for a new clutch and flywheel, along with installation, I get to pay for a new window and equipment.

after seeing crap like this it makes me never want to give the dealership ANY business.. you freaking buy a 30k+ car and its gets broken into at the dealership and they wont pay for the sh*t stolen.. that is messed up man, messed up....
If you parked your car at Walmart for a few days and it got broke into it, is it Walmart's fault that your car got broken into?

I talked to the service manager at Rice about the evo getting broken into. His story is that he told the guy not to bring the car there until he had the parts. I asked him why he did not move the car inside, and he said the car would not move that the wheels were locked up. However this dealership will not hardly cover any warranty work. If you have an evo you must be abusing it therefor the warranty according to them is void.
Megan racing manifold, HKS SSQV, HKS super mega flow intake, Apexi catback (I think), Greddy TT, Tein Coilovers, Exedy stage 1 organic clutch, I have no idea who made the IC but its ****ing massive! Since I bought the car I've installed brass base and linkage bushings and SS brakelines. Going to wait until it warms up to install my SS clutchline and I am planning on getting a tune but I don't know when. I've only been up to KK once, but I have yet to go back because I damn near froze to death. PM me to let me know when you're heading up next and I'll try to stop by. BTW, I bought the car with most of the mods already installed.
Well man, that sucks,
But for all the folks saying sue them etc etc IF they have a big sign that says "We are not responsible for items left in vehicle" or something similar I doubt there is much you can do. I could be wrong though.
Almost every shop I have been to in Georgia has such a sign hanging behind the front counter.
FWIW mine was broken into the same way. Punched the rear window climbed in, ripped off the face plate, but they had to bail before they got the radio out. It was a huge job, they got 30 cars that night from the apparent complex I was living in at the time, mine just happened to the last one they got too in the parking deck that night.
