HELP why wont my boost gauge dim ?

OK i installed a defi blue racer boost gauge by following this guide and i got EVERYTHING working properly but the gauge WILL NOT work with the dimmer.... I spliced defi's white (illumiation) wire into the green with white like the guide says but still nothing at all, this is SO frustrating. Everything went smooth up until this point. thanks in advance

if you leave defis white wire disconnected all together theyre REALLY bright but if you connect it, then its dim and stays dim. Either way they dont seem to be adjustable nd its extremely frustrating.

Probably tapped the wrong line. If you had a multimeter, you could figure out which line changes voltage when you flip the lights on and off. The instructions may not say the correct wire.

^^ yeah but i tried BOTH wires that dim the cig lighter... the black and yellow made it go crazy and flash... the other (white and green) did nothing.

It's not dimmable...it just dims when the headlights are on. It's frustrating cause when it's rainy but bright the gauge is hard to see, for this reason I added a switch to un-dim the gauge if I need to.

it IS NOT dimmable with your dimmer knob..it simply darkens when the parking lights come on.

^^ yeah realized it wont go with the dimmer knob but will dim out with the headlight switch on. I guess i was mislead by the directions in the paper the gauge came with becasue it clearly states troubleshooting for a non-dimming gauge. thanks a lot for clearing that up and confirming for me though.

no problem, it's a great gauge but the dimming is a little beat...you can wire up a simple switch to break the dimmer signal to the gauge to give you the ability to put it on full brightness with the headlights, if you like.

there should be a way to dim it with a dimmer knob right. set the ground to the dimmer switch's other power line or something?

there is a big difference in standard bulbs and the LEDs in the gauges too.

the standard will noticably dim with the dimmer knob.

the LED's will barely dim with the dimmer switch. it almost looks like it doesnt dim. basically, if you arent looking at it while you dim, you wouldnt be able to tell.
