Its not that it keeps the MAF happy, but the airflow at idle and the MAF is calibrated for this, so the HKS does throw the stock tune off a bit..

I run an uncirculated HKS SSQV, and for my no-maf application it works great.. However it SUCKS on a stock MAF equipped car circulated or not, it makes tuning tricky on a stock MAF..

I would STRONGLY suggest that most people do not change their DV unless they have a need to. aftermarket DV's offer very little performance benefit, and generally hurt drivability, until your at the point where your boost levels and tune are causing them to leak.

the Greddy Type S with a single spring mod and an HKS EIDS is what you want. That will get you what you are looking for. These other dudes are just effing with you. Just answer the guys question and let the thread die.

What? Im being serious, you cannot run VTA with MAF. No ifs, no adds, no buts...I never said the Type-S recir was bad (thats what I have). I will not truthfully tell someone to mod their car in a way that hurts the performance of the car. I will point them in the right direction. VTA with EIDS still isnt a solution for an Evo.

Thanks for the info on the HKS, I wasn't aware that the factory diverter valve was open on idle!

the HKS EIDS is JUNK, worthless on the Evo.. It is a "Buffer" that smooths the signal, and as a result EFF's up the cars response and will hurt your performance and since the signal is buffered, when you shift at higher RPM your RPM's will shoot up until the signal drops.. Add that to an overly-stiffly sprung BOV and your asking for trouble.

This topic has been covered before..

1) Keep the stock DV when possible
2) Ignore the desire for "The sound"
3) pre DV MAF cars don't respond well to BOV's
4) If you want to do this, its obvious performance is NOT the reason
5) Almost anyone who does a VTA BOV on an EVO with a stock MAF will be ridiculed mercilously, simply because it HURTS the performance, drivability, and reliability of the car.

Seriously, forget about the aftermarket BOV and put your money toward something useful.

Yup. Same thing with Warrtalon. Both of them are great at translating their knowledge into a coherent post. Have a question? Just dig through posts by MJ or Warrtalon and there's a 95% chance you'll find an answer that makes sense!

Im working on a magic box that will require a radio relocation kit. This box will have a bunch-o-buttons on it and one of them will make that "sneezie" sound. It will locate near my shifter so I can bang into it every shift to make various BlowOff sounds.
Now I gotta go collect all these sound samples. :P
