new dyno #'s after tune

ok so all mods are in my signature. #'s before the custom road tune 302/276 new #'s are 314/293 so a gain of 12hp/17tq. But am somewhat dissapointed since it was 10 degrees colder out w/19% less humidity and the boost was 1 psi higher then the previous dyno. All mods are the same from dyno to dyno with the exception of the fuel pump and tune. New #'s are the solid lines..

new numbers are the solid lines? who did your tuning? i would have kept the old fuel tune as the new one is pretty rich and definately costing you power.

it took al 1 hour to do that? wow.

have him re-do it. you should be aiming for 11.3-11.8:1. the ---- line was pretty decent. maybe a bit lean at peak torque.... but the solid line is all over the place and very rich at < 10.7:1 at one point with most of the curve <11.0:1

yeah the a/f at @6700 kinda scared me a bit...did the car gain anything from the tune or is alot of it from the weather/boost change?

i would say it didn't gain anything from the tune. higher boost and lower ambient temps will account for the 10hp delta. taking some of that fuel out will gain you hp.

Hold on, how in the hell was your AFRs flat and in the mid 11s without a tune? That makes no sense - are you sure it wasn't tune at some point?

Kevin, why are you suggesting such high AFRs on 91oct? I'm confused. It looks like Al took the tune and made it richer on purpose to stay below the knock threshold for the given boost level. It is normal to go a little fat in the middle where the cylinder pressures are high and then lean out some up top where the boost tapers off so much. It doesn't make sense to have a totally flat AFR curve for no reason other than saying "I have a flat AFR curve." The point of the custom tune is to find the safe point below the knock threshold for every rpm at a given boost for a given octane.

SRT2, it looks to me like he took a car that somehow inexplicably had a LEAN afr curve with a stock tune (I have no clue how that is possible), added fuel to make it safer, and still made more power. Anytime you can make the tune safer and still make power, y ou're in good shape. If your car had the normal stock tune where the AFRs dip into the 9s, you would have seen much higher power gains.

You're making more power on 91oct with stg1 mods than VIIIs on 93oct (on average), so the power is good. Not sure why you said "not really." Your pre-tune power was higher than it should have been due to the unbelievable AFRs, which I've never seen on an untuned Evo.

yes it had never been tuned prior i bought the car new with 7 miles on it so im pretty sure it had never been tuned before i had it tuned. And as far as the #'s it seems most 9's with my mods are making more power
