Oh No! Car get keyed.

Decided to go to San Francisco last night with some friends. To be honest this is the furthest ive driven with my car since I got the car about a month ago. So its a first for everything. We all decided to go down to a restuarant in San Bruno. Regardless, I end that night crashing at a buddies house. I drive home and decide to give the car a good wash for giving such a hassle free night.

As I am washing the passenger side I see a long streak going from my quarter panel to the front door. OH NO! *Bleep*

I worked at a body shop for about and I know how costly even a simply key'ing can amount to. I looks and feels like just clear coat, probably just buff it out with some rubbing compound.

Anyone have there suggestions if they've been in a similiar situation? Id like some input.

if its not your fault call your insurance and see if it will go against your policy if not turn it in and have it fixed. Sure does suck.

Run your nail on it. You can feel if it passed the coat or not. That's what I heard. If your nail gets caught or whatever, your screwed.

That's messed up! It seems people can own anything nice nowadays because you always have jealous people who envy those who work hard to be able to afford nice things.

Yeah, it happens, and it sucks. But the best thing you can do is hope it didn't penetrate to the base coat, newer cars have pretty thick clear. You can try to use 3m's finesse-it II with a cutting pad and a polisher. Then go over it with 3m's perfect-it II with glaze (to fill in the scratch) with a fine polishing pad. The trick is to have a nice polisher and not to cut too deep. Good luck.

ooo good call. Ill try to cut and buff it out. I do think its not that far as if I run my finger over it I barely feel the scratches. I hopeing and praying its clearcoat.

Right now Im more worried about college finals, focus on that stuff first over the next two days then try some rubbing compound.

It would probably be better to skip insurance, depending on how much your deductible is. I don't understand why people destroy others' property; those types of people need to be shot.
