Thanks for the replies everyone. I stopped in Freehold Mitsu last night and they showed me the invoice on a black MR that I liked. The car drives great.

I also talked to a friend that sells cars today and he said that invoice cost is the true cost of the vehicle.

Then he lied to you, as no dealer on earth would sell cars at cost as often as cars are sold at invoice.

Invoice is NOT the cost that the dealer paid for the car when all is said and done.

Do these here look like the correct invoice numbers?

2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution $29,593.00
2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR $33,165.00

I dont understand why these cars have to sell so cheap. You dont see BMW having to sell cars at invoice.

In another thread, members were saying that they acutally paid ~$2000-$2500 under invoice... That sounds like a deal to me...

I paid $2250 under invoice with employee pricing.

Those invoices you listed are correct for a base IX and MR. The SE package adds a bit, I *think* ~ 300 on the MR, and maybe $1,300 or so on the base IX.

Edit: $1,619 for SE on a IX, and $438 for the MR, according to Edmunds.

I just wonder how realistic it is for the average Joe to think they will get ~$2000 under invoice... Do you think that is a realistic assumption?

No. If you don't have someone sponsor you, you won't get that price. You can get close however (see: South Coast).

Wow, thats nutty pricing. The local dealership here has a few SE's and MR's and they want $36,600 for them. Thats with the Sheehy markdown from $36,800 I can't believe they can do that with a straight face.

It isnt unheard of. Some dealers will do such a thing with performance shops, so the dealer can get "free" advertising in the "tuner" crowd.

Lol the dealerships here demand the MSRP around 37,800 for a MR.
