I've been told that CA uses a different octane calculation method and that CA 91 is in between normal 93 and normal 91.

All true. However there are several pluses:

Living in Los Angeles makes your Evo much more anonymous among all the more expensive exotics on the road. What this means is Mr. Officer doesn't notice you and your car is much more under the radar in your local neighborhood. None of the "oh man have you seen so and so's Evo over on Oak Street?!"

Can't say enough about the weather. The fact of the matter is bad weather breaks a car down over time. Let's see, looking out my office window this morning, there's a light smog layer over the San Gabriel mountains, but there's not a cloud in the sky and it has been briskly cool (upper 60's/low 70's) for weeks. No cold starts in the morning, fogged windows, etc. No WATER. There's nothing better than having the Ocean in your back yard, but almost never getting pissed on by the rain gods.

Our smog laws do suck. But on the other hand we have every source and option available for getting your car smogged legally or not And this brings up the first point again. There are so many modded cars driving around you blend right in.

As for the gas, it does suck that the best we have at the pumps is 91. However, there are two 76 stations within 3 miles of my house that have 100 octane available. Where else is that happening in our great country?

The food man, the food! Try ordering good Mexican in NY or Florida.

There's good looking women everywhere. We just have more of them here.

I wouldn't want to own an evo in cali purely because of the gas and non-mod friendliness of the state.

housing costs, weather and chick hotness factor is really off topic.

i did the same thing. even though i had an eclipse gsx i have not felt the pull of the evo. and i would be scared to step on it. but now it feels like its slower to me but everyone who rides in it has a different look on it.

Its time to mod.

Sure my detailed dissection of the L.A. weather was off topic, but the weather does directly affect all of our driving habits and how our cars age.

youll feel a difference when you put your boost down to 16lbs for a week. and stop putting the evo on a ped-o-stool.
