An Evo isn't an Evo without the wing. It's been there since day one in 1992.

Try rubber gloves. Not the ***** yellow ones women used to wear to when washing dishes...go to the Co-op (or equivalent) and get some manly neoprene gloves.

i use diving/fishing style rubber gloves to keep my hands from freezing, or just throw hot water in a bucket, but always should hand wash your car. no brushes no drive through washes.

If you care about your car, stay out of the car wash. I used to take my VW through a $2 car wash in West Philly. Over time it developed swirling scratches on a large portion of my roof. I didn't care, the car was black and I gave up on keeping it looking nice long before that.

I took my EVO to a local car wash today to get it detailed and ready to ship overseas. They wouldnt run it through because of the wing. No bigge. I am glad they told me instead of trying to run it through anyway. I ended up taking it to a new car wash thats touch free. Any other time I would wash it by hand for best results.

YMMV

What about the wing and those spinning brushes? I have heard that they can tear parts off of your car.

Anyone have any issues? Advice? I don't have a good place to wash it by hand...
My main issue would be the Long swinging strips that Scrub, I am afraid it might Break the Wing. So yeah I wash my Car by hand, But look For an auto spa there is one here in NJ called Englewood autospa. I hear they are pretty good.

i think the manual tell us to stay away from automatic car washes because the brush will dull the paint (pg 7-60) pretty much everything to keep your car clean is in your manual.

I think this subject was brought up zillions of times by now, do a search I think some dude have a cool hood scoop that goes on top of your evo's hood vent, its almost like the ones on the slowbarus Hehe!! This never gets old, OH and by the way its a joke! I drive mines through the drive through all the time, plus my wing is 3 years old so its already faded, doesn't matter much now....Better than some of the hand washers, they freakn scratched my car man!!! Have fun with the washing! BTW it's rainy season now so dirty my car will be....
