if you're on the fastest intermittent setting .. it will go into slow wiping mode once you past that ..

Also at that magical 20mph, if you're dumb enough to still leave your mirrors folded .. it will automatically open up

There are also settings for other things on the ETACS that you can reprogram ..
which is weird as one of the nicest feature that was disabled was window wind down using the keyless remote ..

press lock 3 times to fold mirror
press unlock 3 times to unfold mirror
press & hold lock to wind up all windows
press & hold unlock to wind down all windows (disabled as default settings)
I'll see if I can still find my programming manual to set your own ETACs
I'm guessing most of those features are an EDM or JDM thing. Us poor americans don't get power folding mirrors. I've never heard of anyone here getting the windows to do anything with the key fob either.

I fear you're right.

Reminds me that VWs will close/open the windows and sunroof if you turn and hold the key in the lock/unlock direction in the door lock. Seems like it would be so easy to program ...

not sure if it's just a EDM and JDM thing .. but if you have speed sensitive wipers .. folding mirrors .. then your car is equipped with ETACS and yes you should have it .. you'll never know

I know the windows and mirrors are sooo hush hush even mitsu didn't know about it .. it was thru accident that most of the functions were located ..

Try it .. maybe it does have these functions !!

Correct. If youd like, we can trade you my Passat GLX for your Evo... Deal?

I tried it but, no joy: Three presses of Unlock or Lock on the remote didn't do anything special.

That's because we don't have power folding mirrors on the USDM Evos. I had them on my '00 TME but never used the functionality.

I know we don't have power folding mirrors; I was trying for the the all-windows-up (or down) command that he mentioned above, with three presses of the Lock (or Unlock) button. I didn't think it would work, but I wanted to try it anyway.

But now I see I was confusing his instructions; I did not try pressing and holding the Lock or Unlock button. So I'll try that later today.

BTW, I don't have it in front of me, but IIRC the US Evo IX owner's manual explains how to reprogram the remote control with respect to the locking feature, but I can't recall exactly what the choices are. That reprogrammability suggests to me that we might have some variant of the ETACS system.

Man after my own heart.

Anyone got a U.S. owner's manual handy? What does it say about reprogramming the remote again?
