That happened to me too the second time I changed my tc fluid. It turns out the pins that hold the axle in broke off and was leaking fluid.

i actually change mine pretty often... i change my TC and rear diff every 7K but also i like to change it during the track season more often then that, i'd say every 3rd or 4th trip to the track... same with tranny.

+1 for the Diaqueen. I change my drivetrain fluids every 5,000 miles. It's the OCD's fault, not mine.

BTW, don't expect too much to come out. The diff and TC only take .58 qts. if i'm not mistaken, and the tranny 3 qts.(Not Diaqueen obviously)

How much do they usually charge at the dealership to change the fluids except the oil.

because it doesn't hurt to change it more often than required, only less. plus, the owner's manual doesn't take road racing into account which breaks down oils much quicker than any driving(even aggressive) you can do on the street. plus, with the cost of a new transfer case, i'd rather be safe than sorry, and change out the $5 worth of fluid frequently to save an expensive part's wear and tear.

also, there are two scedules in the owner's manual. The one you quoted, PLUS a "severe duty" schedule, which in effect shortens the intervals, ie. "normal" schedule oil change at 5,000mi. - "severe duty" schedule at 3,500 mi.
